  • As an alternative solution, using an iframe plugin can be great. Especially if you are trying to run 2 or more animations on the same page. I have been using Advanced iFrame Pro very successfully (its worth the $16).

    Hi,

This is quick message. I am on PST so I have not started work yet.

Open the creative cloud desktop app and see if there is an update to Animate.

Otherwise I may need to look at your Animate project, if that is ok. Email me at [email protected] and we can set up a way for you to send me your project.

    Thanks,
    ~ PacWeb

    Hi laucabello,

Rule #1 – don’t get stressed. Just relax, you’ll fix it.

While you are waiting, you can try turning the NoConflict Mode off.

Depending on who owns the creative cloud subscription, you might be able to setup Animate at home. I am pretty sure that a subscription does allow you to install apps on a second computer (work and home). But you would have to check the Adobe site to be 100% sure. I know you can install on 1 MAC and 1 Windows machine with the same account.

When you have access to Animate, one thing you can try, is open your project in Animate and save a copy of it. Then publish that copy, upload, and update the shortcode in the page. This will generate a freshly published copy and should give you the updated edge runtime.

As for installing animations via code, you can find out more on the ES installation page. I want to warn you that this can be a bit tricky if you are not used to working with the code. Also where you insert the code depends on your site’s theme. For example, to get my animated logo into my site’s header, I added the code in the functions.php, not the header.php.

Good luck and let us know how it goes,

    Hi,

Yes other people also have the problem right now. Are you only adding in animations via the plugin and by using shortcodes?

Try opening your composition in Animate, save and re-publish. In your project’s folder, in the edge_includes folder you should see a ver 5 edge runtime. You might also check you Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app to make sure Animate is up to date.

In the WP Admin, under Edge Suite, there is an experimental feature called jQuery NoConflict Mode. If this is on a development version of the site (and you have a backup) you could try turning this feature on.

    Hi laucabello,

When I looked at the page’s code I did see two things that could be causing problems:

    1) The site is loading jQuery in the version 2 family. It might be better to use the current 1.11.2 version. Other people have run into problems with jQuery ver 2.

    2) The animation is seems to be created in an older version of Animate. I see the Edge runtime is version 4. The current version is 5.0.1

I would try to resolve those two things first.

Email me if you need help,

    Hi wverveer,

    Are you still having problems?

To set a Max W, you have to click on it and when the little window pops up, click on on the checkmark and None. That actually turns it off. It is not very intuitive.

    Thanks,
    ~PacWeb

    Hi Phiam,

    Are you still having problems?
I checked the two links you posted an I see each of the animations.

    Thanks,
    ~PacWeb

    Hi laucabello,

I took a look at the link you posted above in both Chrome and Firefox. I don’t see any animations. Including when I use the dev console or firebug, I don’t see any code for any animations.

For example, if you visit this test site when you Inspect Element (in Chrome) you will see a lot of code and just above this element you will see the Edge Animate script.

Has anything changed on this page?

If you would like I can take a look at the page through the WP Admin to see if everything is setup correctly. If you would like to try this, please email me directly at info at pacificwebfoundry.com and we can talk further.

    Thanks,
    ~ PacWeb

    Hi manic.insomnia,

Have you tried a newer version of the ES plugin, especially the dev version?
That version corrected the missing JS file issue.

    Hi,

I just looked at the site in both Chrome and Firefox and I don’t see any animations on either page. Did you pull the animations out?

    Thanks,
    ~ PacWeb

    Hi Phiam,

I took a look at the links you posted above. I have a bunch of questions about your composition:

    What are your stage dimensions?
Also, are you using Responsive Scaling and/or Centering?
If so, horizontally, vertically, or both?
Have set a Max Width or Max height?

    Thanks,
    ~ PacWeb

    Hi federaicor,

Is it possible for you to share a link where we can look at the animation?
Also, can you tell us which shape is missing?

    Thanks,
    ~ PacWeb

    Hi,

All of my animations so far use px based sizing. I have still had problems where smaller compositions (smaller than the window size, for example having a width under 600 px) would over size when I have responsive scaling turned on. It is scaling too badly (beyond the browser) but it is bigger than the container it is in.

The simplest solution is this situation is to set a Max Width for the Stage. But you are using percents. I would suggest using a Max W and/or Max H that is pixel based.

I will test this idea out on one of my animations.

If that doesn’t work, let us know and I may have another trick or two for you.

    Thanks,
    ~PacWeb

    Hi wverveer,

Those errors sound like they are coming from one of the older versions of ES. If you install the Dev version they should go away. If not then there is a bigger problem. But remember, it is a Development version and it is best to thoroughly test your animations on the test-site before trying it on a live site.

One thing to note, if you are going to switch versions of the plugin, you will need to delete the plugin before installing another version. Then you will have to re-import your animation(s) and update the site to use the new composition IDs accordingly.

Let us know how it goes.

    Hi wverveer,

That sounds like you might have one of the older versions of ES (not the dev version) loaded. I will reply to your other forum post since it goes into a bit more detail.
