Hi @marceljm, thank you so much! I’m using this plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-sheet-editor-bulk-spreadsheet-editor-for-posts-and-pages/ to add the Featured Image.

After you install & activate it, you might need to go to Sheet Editor and enable Stories. Then, you can see all the web-stories in a spreasheet-like UI.

To see the added featured images for web-stories, please visit domain.com/web-stories/ , which is basically an archive page. Sometimes, the web-stories autoplay themselves depending on the theme you use, but if the featured image is added, you should be able to see it in your browser’s debugging mode.

Your plugin is great and I believe it might be the only plugin in the market today still works after all recent WP updates.

Is it possible for you to confirm that [fifu_image_url] is actually available as metadata for web-stories?

You can visit /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=web-story to add an empty story for testing.

I was able to use other third-party plugins to add featured images to web-stories but when it comes to fifu, I couldn’t find [fifu_image_url] .

Regarding FIFU, I believe she is using the FIFU from https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/featured-image-from-url/

I will ask her to test with your FIFU version, but she is new to your plugin too and she mainly uses it for her woocommerce store.

Hi, I just reached out to another webmaster that actually recommended your plugin. She did a quick testing on one of her sites and she can confirm that if you add the URL to [Featured Image], WP will automatically download the image, which loses the point of using the external image. However, in order to make FIFU work, it seems that you need to add the URL to both [Featured Image] and [fifu_image_url]. Okay, which premium version do I need? Right now I’d only consider the premium version that works in this scenario. I understand you offer many other addons but I wanted to start with a specific premium addon. Thank you.

I agree. A domainmedia.xyz will probably be easier. My only concern however is if G recognize this domain name as a “side domain” of the main domain.

Not sure if this is the most updated doc but it seems that I wouldn’t be able to only add a subdomain like media.domain.com to Cloudflare: https://community.cloudflare.com/t/how-to-use-the-cloudflare-just-one-sub-domain-without-change-the-main-domain/323612
I’m not sure if I want to change my DNS at this moment…

I did a little research and I believe you would still need to use G’s Load Balancing and have to add a third-party cert there: https://cloud.google.com/certificate-manager/docs/overview & https://cloud.google.com/load-balancing/docs/ssl-certificates/google-managed-certs

The good news is that I still can use the default URL that comes with the HTTPS like https://storage.googleapis.com/bucketname/filename.mp4

But the downside is obvious and like everybody else, I wanted to keep the domain consistent for SEO purposes. Honestly, it should work but I’m not sure if G’s crawler would always treat this type of video “assets” as mine or even index it.

Hi Ross,

I tested it and as you predicted, it shows “Your connection to this site is not fully secure” namely the mixed content warning.

I learned that there are a few ways to install an SSL cert to a Google Cloud Storage’s bucket. Cloudflare, Google Cloud Balancer, just to name a couple.

However, I don’t plan to use Cloudflare for this domain and I heard that Google Cloud Balancer costs $18/month, which I wouldn’t consider only for hosting a few videos files.

If you have other suggestions, kindly share with me and others. Great plugin and I wish I could find a better use of it.

Regarding the video, if I visit the video file like https://media.domain.com/video.mp4 on the browser,
it shows the video but the warning sign indicates that the connection isn’t secured. In the HTML, I use src=”https…”, although I know it isn’t. Will your plugin work in this scenario?

Hi @hupe13 , unfortunately it only shows the marker and no popup can be found when the user clicks on it. I added both <name> and <desc> tags inside the wpt wrapper.

Hi @hupe13 I’m using the classic editor (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/classic-editor/) and I believe the br tags were added by WP itself.
