In reply to: Media upload error since version 4.0Well gumbydev, maybe the folks over at Drupal won’t be so nasty either. You have my empathy.
For the record, my site was eventually fixed, but it was well beyond anything I could’ve done on my own. My ISP actually helped me. It took over a week of back and forth with several of their tech people(!). This, for a site that had been working perfectly before this horrible upgrade. This is what they told me:
“The issue was due to lack of memory allowed by the uploading function. This has been corrected by making the local php.ini file you’re using on this install recursive so that it affects your entire website.”
I just want to have a crummy blog. I do not want to be forced to work towards a self-taught degree in IT every time WordPress issues a buggy upgrade. I suspect a majority of afflicted users aren’t bothering to say anything on these forums. They’ve just given up. One friend, who almost ended her long-time blog over this, finally “solved” the problem by uploading images to an external photo-hosting site and linking to them there, seeing as her Media library is nearly useless now.
Indeed, this is a month-old topic. And WordPress has still done nothing about this wide-spread problem? It’s been fixed for me, but after this last miserable waste of time, I’m scared of any update now.

In reply to: Media upload error since version 4.0If I use the browser uploader I get a 500 server error. If I use the multi-file uploader, I get the http error. Curiously, if I try to add images to a gallery through NextGEN, I seem to be able to upload images. I have not, however, tried to actually insert the images into a post. I need to be able to add individual images to posts through the Media Library. This is ridiculous.

In reply to: Media upload error since version 4.0I have reinstalled 4.0 and deactivated every plugin, and it made no difference. My web host tried to help, and now I can’t upload ANY image–I just get a 500 Error. This update has been a disaster. I have no idea what to do from here.

In reply to: Media upload error since version 4.0I tried the suggestion to upload only tiny images. This has been the only thing that has worked. Wonderful! I have a blog dedicated to art and now can only upload tiny, fuzzy low-quality images! I wasn’t exactly uploading mega-files before–everything was optimized and appropriate for the web. This is absolutely ridiculous! What do I have to do? Go back to Blogger so I can use my blog? I also did a bulk update of all of my plug-ins, just in case. But that did nothing either.

In reply to: Media upload error since version 4.0Thanks Jersey peeps. It obviously is an issue with 4.0, but they seem to be ignoring us, or insisting it’s a plugin conflict (I deactivated everything, cleared my caches… no change). My images aren’t even that large. But I’ll see if tiny images might work. SIGH.

In reply to: Media upload error since version 4.0I am having exactly the same problem since the update. I am NOT using the WPML plugin either. I tried deactivating every possible plugin, and still no fix. My blog has been unusable since this update and I’m very frustrated.

In reply to: Media Upload ProblemsSame here. After installing 4.0, I can’t upload media. I get the http error and the grayed-out icons instead of my photos. I do not have WPML installed, and tried disabling all of my plugins. I still have the same problem. I’ve wasted a lot of time with this and still can’t upload anything.
Update: After wasting a lot of time, I discovered that my settings for the lightbox had been wiped clean. After making a few re-selections, my lightboxes are back. It looks fine now. Why could you have not simply made this clear to everyone? Perhaps some better documentation–or at least some that is easier to find–might save everyone a lot of time and bad feelings.

In reply to: [Pinterest Lightbox] Messed up my blogUpdate: I finally managed to get my site back to what it was before I installed this plug-in. I’m suspecting now that maybe there had been some kind of plug-in conflict that perhaps I could’ve avoided with better documentation? I honestly don’t know. But I’m frustrated over the time wasted with this. It messed up all the pictures on my site, even ones that should’ve had nothing to do with my galleries.
