In reply to: Private Sticky PostsWe’re having the same problem – there is a blog that myself and two friends post to, all with the same login (admin account). We separate our individual posts by category, but for our “uncategorized” post, which are generally ideas we’ve had or problems we’ve encountered, we want them to be private, so they only display to *us* when we are logged in, and sticky, so they stay at the top of the front page and we don’t have to remember to look at another page to see if anything’s changed.
We use quick edit to enable stickiness but the posts don’t stay sticky once they have naturally rolled off the front page due to date of posting.
Since there are often links in these ideas/problems posts it’s not very useful to have them show up only as drafts on the dashboard.

In reply to: random post-IDs instead of auto_incremented onesFor me it’s a privacy issue. I don’t want people to be able to estimate what is going on behind the scenes of my site, how many drafts/revisions I’m on, what articles were started before article N. (elastisch)
I’m totally with you, there. Sequential numbering is one of the reasons I rarely use post IDs in the prettified URL. On my anonymous rants-only blog I sometimes start an article but then decide I need to do some/more research, and the research spawns more articles, and sometimes they take months to finish to my satisfaction. I don’t always want people to know that post #238 somehow comes before post #79 :p

In reply to: Changing Registration Settings? You could try this plugin: https://radiok.info/category/register-plus-redux/. It allows you to ask for additional info and optionally make any of those fields required. ??

In reply to: If your CSS stylesheet seems brokenAlso make sure you have closed all your comments. Amazingly some people don’t know they have to do this.

In reply to: New to wordpressAlso, look for hosts that offer “one-click install” of WordPress. Usually this will be listed as Fantastico and/or Softaculous – it makes it super-easy for you (you don’t need to know anything technical to set it up).

In reply to: WordPress's utterly hateful Featured ImageI totally sympathise – I have a domain specifically for external storage of my own images for hotlinking. Remarkably there are a couple of services now that don’t like that. wtf?
