In reply to: Change the URL of the main blog pageOK I can’t believe how thick I was being.
There are 2 settings, one for the front page – make this a wordpress page that you have populated with your landing page content.
The second is for a “Posts page: “. Create any old empty page using the wordpress editor. I created a totally empty page called “blog”. Select this – voila – you have a blog URL and a CMS for a web site.
Here is a screengrab – so you don’t have to be as thick as I was.

In reply to: Add “blog” page /static front pageThe steelydane:
what exactly did you put in your /blog page ? I have tried the same thing at https://rosacea-support.org but cannot get a /blog page or link or redirect to go to my posts without cheating and linking to https://rosacea-support.org/?page=1 instead.

In reply to: Static front page permalink to full blogSorry, but this is a me-too. I have tried various hacks to be able to have a static front page and still have my posts available via a nice /blog/ url.
My workaround is to have a link on every page called /blog, but it redirects to https://rosacea-support.org/?page=1 which then behaves like a blog, leading to https://rosacea-support.org/page/2?page=1 and so on. The URL ends up looking weir with the /page/N?page=1 but it gets the job done.
I’d love to know how to do this properly with wordpress.

In reply to: Help on placing text widgets on selected pages onlyI see you have asked the same question as me. I would love to be able to include some widged on selected posts but can’t see how to do it. I’d love to have the akismet stats and WP_Meta stuff, but don’t want it polluting every page on my blog – that seems like overkill and just confusing to my visitors.

In reply to: Can’t Delete Posts?macbrink, I don’t understand your .htaccess solution and would like to know more before I change my .htaccess in case of a security problem.
The Google Sitemaps plugin is definitely causing this problem in my WP install as well, so a better solution than deactivating the plugin every time I want to delete a post would be nice.

https://my.opera.com/djp/blog/2007/07/02/maintain-permalinks-moving-from-new-blogger-to-wordpress-2-0my slightly hacky solution requires just 2 lines to be added to blogger.php.
