In reply to: [LiteSpeed Cache] Update to v6.5.1 Requires FTP CredentialsHello @litetim
You are absolutely right. We had reached a maximum number of file handles on our “unlimited” account with our hosting provider. There are several hosting attributes that are technically unlimited (storage, email accounts, databases, etc.), but the number of files has a hard maximum and we reached it. After cleaning up some older content across our domains, I was able to successfully update the plugin.
Thanks for your help!

In reply to: [Amble] Show Original Post DateYou sure can. I’ll do that on my reply. Forgot I could do that. ??

In reply to: [Amble] Show Original Post DateHi Andre, No apologies needed. I understand that things like that can sometimes happen. I was able to address my needs through a bunch of database updates. I had to do a little digging into the syntax to get it right, but all is well. ??
One suggestion I saw was to rename the “object-cache.php” file in the wp-content folder. To do this yourself, you will need to know a little about FTP. Otherwise, you can contact your web hosting provider and ask them to do that on the site that was updated.
If you prefer to revert to the older version of WP (v4.6.1), you’ll definitely need to have access to the host control panel or know how to use FTP. I use FileZilla as my FTP client and have all of my site credentials stored in a password vault.
I went to https://www.ads-software.com/download/release-archive/ and downloaded the 4.6.1 zip file to my PC. After unzipping it, I accessed my host via FTP and uploaded the contents of the 4.6.1 directories EXCEPT for the wp-content folder (that would wipe out your themes and your images and so on.
If you’re really not comfortable doing this, I would propose checking in with the service provider and asking them to rename the object-cache file to see if that works for you. I didn’t see that suggestion until after I uploaded v4.6.1 manually and I’m not willing to test that out until I have more time to troubleshoot, if needed.
Best of luck to all.
Hi @davinity12. Sorry I missed you last night and glad to hear that you got the manual upload figured out. That was a huge relief for me, but I’m frustrated and concerned that (it seems) no one on the WP team is taking this error seriously.
Since all of the other guidance did not work, I have reverted to WP 4.6.1 (via manual upload) and the site is now working fine. I will monitor these forums to see if this gets more stable, but I will NOT be updating to 4.7 without further evidence that this is truly resolved. The earlier post on this very same topic was (in my opinion) closed as resolved prematurely. It seems that others are also experiencing the issue and the “resolution” that is documented is not effective.
I have been using this plugin on multiple sites and it works well. It allows for a bit of an “automatic” blog. Nicely done.

In reply to: [Core Control] Unsure of Core version and dateI want to give a very public KUDOS to Dion who has been helping me via this support thread. Not only has he been kind enough to help me here, he has gone above and beyond to chase down the root cause of this particular challenge. It turned out to be a system plugin from the previous hosting service provider (as noted in an earlier post, I had exported the site from there and then imported it on my new hosting provider’s server) that was blocking all core updates and some other important changes.
Dion, you are a stress saver in the most sincere way! THANK YOU!!

In reply to: [Core Control] Unsure of Core version and dateI changed the WP version to 4.0, but it still didn’t see that an update was available. I’ve added two more images, but they probably won’t tell you anything that you didn’t already expect.
Update Tester (to see if I can connect to WP, says yep) — https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8XrHQXQQHoVME10UVJ1R0hxVjQ
Actual WordPress Update page (shows nothing needed) —
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8XrHQXQQHoVbGVfeTBHTHNZb0kI am definitely not liking the idea of yanking it all down, re-installing from scratch, and re-applying plugins and themes and so on. But… I’m beginning to wonder if it’s my only option to get WP updated. ??

In reply to: [Core Control] Unsure of Core version and dateThanks for the reply @dion. Not fond of the idea of a manual update unless I must. There are lots of moving parts on this site. I had actually exported it from a server on one hosting service and imported to a server on another hosting service. This might be a milestone event in this issue.
I had seen other forums and threads about control panel code interfering with the checks and I agree that is bad form. I’ve tried several recommended steps to identify my culprit, but without success.
Thank you for the hint about the wp_version_check function. I found one plugin that was referencing it, but it actually seemed to be accurately calling the function. It wasn’t active anyway, so I deleted it. Unfortunately (but expectedly), there was no improvement.
The footer of the Admin page does say that the site is running 4.0.1, but I cannot understand why the update page will not recognize that a newer version is available nor can I figure out the 1970 date stamp issue in the screen shot. I believe that is likely due to a date (stored and retrieved from somewhere) that is pre-1970 and the Unix epoch feature is overriding.
I will try the version.php tweak to see where this goes…
(Several good backups in place) ??

In reply to: [Google Maps - Google Maps Builder for WordPress] Not Quite What We NeededOf course I think it is honest. Do YOU think it is honest to only expect high marks for a plugin that does NOT offer all of the capabilities associated with an industry standard feature like Google Maps?
My rating is based on what it DOES do AND based on what it does NOT do. This is a practical method of reviewing any software, plugin, feature set, etc.
I am insulted that you somehow believe that you deserve something different than what I offered. I will not be changing my rating.
Well… thank you for your response, but from our perspective, this is silly. The plugin is not leveraging all of the “out of the box” capabilities of Google Maps (such as directions), so I will be uninstalling it.
The other one (MapPress Easy Google Maps, free version works great) is more configurable for our specific needs.
I’ve created a TEST Contact Us page for your review.
When I click the pin, I get a blank little box above the pin.
As for directions, perhaps you should compare your map on our test page to the map on our production Contact Us page using a different plug-in to see how it can/should be done to enable a visitor to get directions. Click the pin on the production page to see what happens. We can’t possibly draw polygons for every prospective visitor.
My apologies, but I needed to find something a bit more “out of the box” and had to change plugins to meet my basic needs. So… our Contact Us page is no longer showing a map generated by your plugin.
If you are unable to reproduce the issues within your own environments, please let me know and I’ll publish a separate “test” contact page for review.

In reply to: [MailPoet Newsletters (Previous)] Outlook 2013 rendering challengeWhat is the timeline for releasing MailPoet 3? Some of the earlier communications from MailPoet indicated it would be coming in early 2015. It’s too late for that now but a target date would be helpful.
Just as importantly, will MP v3 include table support per your note above? We need this capability as soon as possible and would prefer not switching to another plugin to find it. But if version 3 is not going to include this, then we have no other choice but to look for another way to do it.
