Nevermind found a different solution

Tara, thanks – but as I mentioned I am looking to fix the auto update rather than continue to work around. Any suggestions for making WP work as it was designed?

Yes, I started off by creating two pages. One “Home”, the other “Blog”. (I have since changed “Blog” to “Posts”).

And I just changed themes and found out that everything works fine in the other themes.

This error is now appearing on the Widgets page – I have also installed a fresh, new ‘widgets.php’ into wp-admin

BTW, I can create the page – but in this specific instance, when I add it to the tabbed Navigation Links at the top of the page and click on the tab, it takes to me a URL for a page I trashed. And to make it just a little more weird, before clicking, when the cursor hovers over the tab, the correct URL is shown. So it looks like everything is fine except when I click on the tab and end up on a 404 page.

I still get the error when I click on “Add New Page”
