Only problem is that I have over 650 whitepapers on my site, changes at this point will take a lot of time. Which plugin would you recommend as an alternative which will be also the quickest solution?

Same problem here! Form seems to be stuck and load constantly. This: FAQ > The spinning arrow icon shows up once I submit a form, but then nothing happens. is not a solution. CF7 worked perfectly before and now it does not after the last update. I cannot use another template of shut off all my plugins. When is there another update coming with a fix?
