NO reply? nice support you have, free or not. It’s not often I need support for anything until this came up.

The issue was the server time and testing my plugins won’t solve that. So I won’t get to use the 2FA. Why not add the phone # option as an alternative to the server time?

I have read enough of your support topics to see how of course you have to push people to upgrade to premium.

Some of us don’t have the money! I’m unemployed and my website is starting to get more traffic NO sales yet so I won’t be getting premium anytime soon.

A friend of mine who has multiple websites and takes care of his clients as well suggested Wordfence to me but didn’t mention how the support is.

I HAD 13 NEW EMAILS THIS MORNING WITH USER LOCKED OUT FROM SIGNING IN. I never had this before August 11th!
Bruteforce is taking care of this if I understand it correctly, so I’m going to stop the manual work and hope my website will be OK.

I probably don’t have all of my settings done correctly, I have checked and can’t understand everything. This is so annoying.

Sorry, should I start a new topic conversation regarding the email alerts I have been getting since August 11th? and how I manually block in ‘Tools’ then have to block permanently in ‘blocking’ because there is an expiry date!

    Thank you ??

    Hi Gerroald,

I had mentioned that the server time is 4hrs ahead from the real-time so it’s not in sync with my device, which has the real-time. I had said how there is a 4hr difference.

I don’t have a default theme and wouldn’t know how to do what you are asking. I’m not too savvy with that. Unless I’m wrong, but it looks like the time is not in sync.

It would be nice if there was an alternative to syncing the time like matching phone #’s.

If I was able to activate the 2FA, would it STOP the many daily emails I get with how users are being locked out from signing in? I’m at over 70 now that I manually block..then ‘permanently’ I never had alerts for that before.

    Thanks!!

Hi it’s been a couple of months since I asked if the theme is compatible with the Gutenberg 5 series and also the Classic Editor plugin

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I’m waiting to hear from JNashHawkings about manually updating it from the dashboard and where to find the setting to see if it’s blocked somewhere.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your help so far, to both of you. I hope to do it manually from the dashboard

    Hi Steven,

Ok so it changes in both areas.

I’m waiting to hear from JNashHawkings about manually updating it from the dashboard and where to find the setting to see if it’s blocked somewhere.

I took note of the wp-config.php changes you left for me, thanks. Not sure if SiteGround will allow it so I’ll wait on that one. At least I have the way it should be changed to.

    Hi,

So the AIO SEO is ok with the new version? the issue was something about meta description and I don’t want that messed up.

How can I manually update to 4.9.9 from the dashboard?

I want to keep the Classic Editor plugin and not use the new one, Gutenberg.
I’m thinking if I update to 5.0.3 it will mess up my website as it’s happened many times before but with bugs..now thinking, I’m using the Classic Editor plugin so it can’t mess up my website? As you can see I don’t get it. I’m currently set to only use the Classic Editor. I’ve only had that one enabled.

I know about the option to go back and forth between both and don’t want to.
let’s say I do the 5.0.3 update, won’t it mess up my website with bugs etc..I can tell you stories of the mess it’s left my website in many times.

I had my auto-update turned off on SiteGround and for some reason/glitch it updated it anyway so they disabled it.

If you can show me how to manually update to 4.9.9 and if you know what setting may block the update it would be great. So much for having a nice birthday with all of this going on today.

I don’t know if I’m allowed to change anything, I talked with support and he said it’s set to what it is and will only go to update to the 5 series regardless of any changes.

So this is what it would look like?

    # Disables all core updates. Added by SiteGround Autoupdate:
    define( ‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_MINOR’, false );

Or..adding the other ‘ as you said to put it inside single quotes.

    # Disables all core updates. Added by SiteGround Autoupdate:
    define( ‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_‘MINOR’, false );

You tagged SiteGround so I need to see what they say anyway.

So ‘minor’ is referring to only the 4.9 series? I’ll have to leave it as is, this is upsetting as to why mine didn’t update on its own to 4.9.9

    (@patsy444)

SiteGround support told me it can’t be changed because it will automatically just update to the new 5 version

Did I leave you with the proper one you need?

This is all over my head with those zip things. I don’t understand them. It even states the updates are not safe unless it’s the 5 series so why even have the Classic plugin if they aren’t safe or even update to 4.9.9

    You had mentioned:
No plugin is necessary. WordPress will update itself.

    But it didn’t.
Tagging SiteGrouond, I already spoke with the support there.

    I copied the wp-config.php…

    # Disables all core updates. Added by SiteGround Autoupdate:
    define( ‘WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE’, false );

They do support WordPress, but only to update the 5 series. He said if the wp-config.php changes from what they set it to with something else, it will automatically go to update the 5 series regardless.

But WordPress didn’t update from 4.9.8 to 4.9.9. I just went to check and I’m still at 4.9.8 and right beside that it has to update to 5.0.3.

I have a screenshot I took I don’t see the option now to send it. Its taken from the cPanel on SiteGround

    Hi Steven,

I won’t update to 5 at all but, I need the security updates for the 4.9 series.
Isn’t there a plugin that will automatically do this?

I would prefer to be safe and find a plugin that automatically does it. SiteGround mentioned there are some but they can’t recommend one.

I have been talking with my host support, they don’t support the Classic Editor and in the wp-config.php file it shows it’s disabled. If I add something to the code there the host support told me it would just go to update the 5 version.

A few weeks ago, the AIO SEO was not compatible with version 5 and, I don’t know if my plugins and theme are compatible. I’m clearly not ready for the 5 version and would like to stay with the Classic Editor plugin please.

Is there a plugin that will automatically do the 4.9.8 update to 4.9.9 and going forward?

I did click on your link but it all looks too complicated for me.

    Thanks,
    Patsy

OMG, that is something I have no clue.

ALL of us in my situation should get automatic updates, not just some of them. It’s enough to make me want to get rid of my website.
