I suggest correcting the HTML errors rather than forcing IE to display as IE8

you should look for an unclosed h1 tag and close it properly.
you can use the HTML validator:

check “show source”

actually the problem is due to the navigation being wrapped in an H1 tag

there are also plugins that add WYSIWYG areas that you can add in your templates

try disabling all plugins first.

I’m still seeing these errors, it seems another plugin is misbehaving.

you might want to try disabling WP-minify which is throwing various errors.

you can use a single install for a multilingual site. I suggest looking at the WPML plugin, it’s not free though. You will need to translate the contents yourself. I don’t suggest using an automatic translation service.
