Having the same issue…working on a portfolio site locally, testing on Firefox,Google Chrome, Safari and IE 8.
I found this post on NextGen’s forum:

It suggested this: “You need to write a page and insert the tag. Now go to the Gallery in ‘Manage gallery’ and have a look at the right side at ‘Page Link to’. Define here the page of your gallery, not (!) your album page.”
I’ve done this…but to no avail. The only thing I can think of is that I had recently updated my NextGen version from 1.3.4 to 1.3.5.
If anyone has some deeper insight, I’d greatly appreciate it too.
