We just faced the same issue with the same stack trace on our wordpress instance.
This was impacting both the public website and the WP admin.
To mitigate the issue, we had to manually re upload 1.0.6 version directly on the server with an ftp client. Once rollbacked to the previous version, we could access back to the admin and the website.
So far we’ve disabled the update on this plugging waiting for instructions and eventual follow up on this.
