Thank you again, Herman. I’m glad you were able to find where the copyright line is coming from. I am marking this as resolved.

    Hi Herman,
Thank you for your response. I appreciate your efforts on this.
I went into Customize, then Footer Builder, then Copyright, as your video showed. I typed the copyright line the way I want it to read. See the sidebar section of Screenshot #1. As you can see, all I’m trying to do is change a single digit (from 2018-2023, as shown in the center section of the screenshot, to 2018-2024). I want to keep everything else the same. Afterward, I clicked Publish, and the program went through its usual routine, meaning it had been published. I then emptied the cache.
But when I went back into my website, nothing had changed. See Screenshot #2. It’s still showing 2018-2023 rather than 2018-2024.
I’ve done the same copyright update every year, and never had any problem with it, but this year I can’t get it to work. If I could get into an edit screen that showed the current copyright line, all I would need to do would be to change the 3 to a 4. But I can’t find that line anywhere, and all my attempts to override it with an updated line have no effect. The line with 2023 in it seems set in stone.
Thank you again for your efforts.

    Thank you for your response.
I don’t see how to get to the page shown in your screenshot. When I go to the Customizing sidebar, there are various choices (starting with Global, Header Builder, and so on), but Copyright isn’t one of them. One of the choices is Footer Builder, but when I select that, nothing related to Copyright comes up. The page in your screenshot seems like the one I need, but I don’t see how to get it to come up.

Thank you for your response. I think The Writer Theme is generating not only its own dropdown panel, but also the Custom CSS panel. Unfortunately, Obox (the maker of The Writer Theme) has not provided support since 2017, and also has not updated the theme since then. (Yet the theme continues to be sold by Envato, including an additional fee for what they call “extended support.”) I have stayed with the theme until now because I really like the layout/visuals, and have not found these anywhere else. My hope was that since this problem did not arise until WP version 5.8, perhaps there would be a WordPress workaround.
