In reply to: Why no www?Hmm. Well I’ve never actively told WP not to display the www so it has done this by default.
If I alter this in the general settings now, will it break anything or can I go ahead?

In reply to: Add a newsletter signup to a homepageThanks but I’ve checked out that plugin and it doesn’t do what I need. The plugin gives me a widget and a signup tab, whereas I am wanting to put the signup form into a templated homepage (i.e. not a standard page + sidebar).
The theme I am currently using is Kraken – like many themes it has a home page template. I can insert the php for the ‘tab’ signup option but want to know how to embed the signup form into the page.
Check out the homepage in the demo:
https://demo.authenticthemes.com/kraken/Where there are three ‘service’ areas beneath the slider, I’d like to make one of these into a space for the form.
I get that this sounds really theme-specific, and I’ve asked the theme creator too, but it’s not just an issue for this theme, I really would like to know how to do this on any WP theme.
Thanks!
Beth

In reply to: Sight theme – menu problemsThanks Flashbuddy – I know it’s old and outdated but just really liked it and was just trying it out for one of my many little blogs.
Nav update: my menu randomly appeared overnight! No explanation there. Sometimes WordPress works in mysterious ways ??

In reply to: [discover] Create child themeThanks Shinjing.
As I said, I have done it before (I learned how from the information you link to above and have successfully managed this a few times now), it just doesn’t seem to be working for Discover specifically. I was just trying to find out if anyone knew a reason why it might work slightly differently for Discover.
Will keep plugging away ??
Thanks for your help anyway!

In reply to: [discover] Create child themeThanks Shinjing, I’ll try that.
Any idea how to do it manually? It’s bugging me that that I can’t seem to manage it with this theme, and I’d like to work out why and how.
I should add I’m pretty new to child themes – have only done four or five so far.
Cheers!

In reply to: Creating child themesJust changed the capital M to a small one in the child theme text and it’s done the trick!
Thank you so much.
I’m sure I’ll be posting again in a few minutes…hopefully not though! Thanks again for the support – this forum is so brilliant for learners like me ??

In reply to: Creating child themesThanks WPyogi! Perhaps it’s the capital ‘M’ causing the problem – here’s what I have:

In reply to: Posts not workingHi Robin (and anyone else reading!)
I’ve found another thread relating to this problem, which can be found here:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wpexplorer-adapt-theme-404-errors-for-portfolio-display?replies=27Basically, the magical solution is to resave your permalinks – go to settings –> permalinks and resave the settings without making changes. It works!?!
I’m happy ??

In reply to: Posts not workingHi Robin,
Thanks for this! The permalink is exactly the same as the post link – hence my confusion.
I’m having the same trouble with another website – this time it’s the portfolio items that won’t show: https://pedalkraft.co.uk/portfolio/ – again they were sending to a 404 page, which I’ve changed.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Image not displaying in Firefox (Quark theme)Aww, thanks! That’s kind. Was an embarrassing thing as it’s a web design website!!
Appreciate your help anyway, have a great day!

In reply to: Image not displaying in Firefox (Quark theme)I’ve resized the image and saved it as a lower-quality/smaller-sized JPG and this seems to have done the trick. If you’re still there, does it load up okay for you now?
Thanks again ??

In reply to: Image not displaying in Firefox (Quark theme)On no!! How embarrassing.
I added the image in the usual way – through the ‘add media’ thing, and the image is there in my media library – does anyone have any idea what’s going on??
Could it be that it’s just too big?
I’ll try recreating the image a bit smaller….
Thanks for trying!Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Image not displaying in Firefox (Quark theme)I should add, other images on my site work fine. And this is the largest image.

In reply to: Themes won't installLooking around the forum it looks like a bunch of people are having the same problem, so I don’t think it’s my account settings or anything…?
