Here is a typical example.

2008/07/dress-of-the-day.html is a page that exists and is viewable on the site

but if I try to add a new post of the same title (note the different dates)
2009/08/dress-of-the-day.html the moment you hit “update post” the URL would changes to

2009/06/dress-of-the-day-1.html

and if you have lots of posts entitled dress-of-the-day.html, then the increments keep getting larger i.e. -2 -3 etc.

This wouldn’t generally be a problem as new posts can be called anything you like. But in this case I am trying to preserve permalinks and the fact that wordpress is not allowing me to have the same postname across different months means that I cannot preserve the permalink structures. If I can;t find away around this I am looking at around 1000 301 redirects, which as You can imagine I want to avoid.

Any help would be warmly appreciated.

Has anyone got a solution to this yet? I am having the same issue. I;ve recently imported a 12000 post typepad blog into wordpress and I need to be able to turn off the duplicate iterations until I have renamed the posts to the correct URLS. I dont mind hacking a bit out of the code but I don’t know where to start.

Anyone? This will save me having around 400 301 redirects so it would be a massive help if anyone could let me know if this can be done.

There are hundreds of threads on the forum with people having issues with Scheduled posts not working after 2.5 and above. Unfortunately if your host is not willing to modify their firewall just for you (which most will not) then you have 2 choices, go back to an earlier version of wordpress, or wait… It sucks I know but it’s as simple as that; and as far as I’ve seen there has been nothing posted that will rectify the problem.

Please give some direct examples of the links google says are unreachable. I have webmaster tools on several wp blogs and none have unreachable errors.

Tried every hack mentioned in this post on all versiosn of wordpress from 2.6.3 to 2.7 RC1 and none of them work for me ??

Just thought I would bring this post up one last time in the hope that someone may have a fix, the issue still persists in 2.7 RC1 ??

Getting the same issue here, I also got the same issues with 2.6 and above. I read somewhere not long ago that this issue with apparent cron server configuration issues would be fixed. I get the error on several different hosting accounts and all of the hosts swear blind their config is correct. I have seen multiple threads about this issue and multiple fixes and I am assuming the same issues are still here with 2.7 other than at least the admin panel tells you the post has not been published by tagging it “Missed schedule”
