I resolved it by using an ABSOLUTE path to the image:

Actually I decided to start from ground up because I wasnt sure where the error arose. It was changing to pretty permalinks and an .htaccess issue; having isolated that I used your solution at

This looks like a great plug-in but after install and activation any attempt to use plug-in tells me ‘unable to load albums’. Any suggestions. I’m using latest WP 2.7.1. Also I’m in UK if having a ‘.co.uk’ makes a difference. The server and user name address are both correct and all albums are public.
Web host is 1&1; they seem to get blamed for most plugin problems.
