I’ve just installed Jetpack with the Classic Editor and it’s working fine. I expect I can’t use the new editing anymore but at least I can write posts.

There was some confusion about a prompt to subscribe to a paid account but using the back button went out of it. It’s working at the moment without subscribing.

It isn’t a Widget it’s a Plug in called ‘Classic Editor’. It got rid of the blank page but gave me white text on white background.

There is another post that says enable the Classic Text Widget. I did that and it worked. However I now get white text on a white background so have to highlight the text with my mouse to read what I typed. It uploads OK.

This started 2 updates ago and I found I could use what I think was the Jetpack menu to update. At the lastest update this seems to have gone so I found the Classic Widget workround. It’s getting a bit messy for my liking.

I’m fairly happy to wait and have gone back to 4.8.3. Hopefully the plug-in updates will work.

It’s not good when products are updated and they become unusable.

I have no idea what the coding is about as written above and the forum has satisfied my query and answered the others. Thanks

Is it likely that if we all overwrite our update that it will be harder to find the problem.

If Easily don’t reply by lunchtime I’ll ring them up. I’m one click ready with the 4.8.3 upload.

Hi, I raised an on line query with Easily mid afternoon referring to this thread.

It seems strange there isn’t backwards compatibility of the WordPress update as the blog I didn’t update is still working.

Also the blog seemed alright after I updated it last Friday as I made a post and didn’t notice any errors.

The update seemed to take a long time and seemed a bit suspect, I recall.

Hi, I’m just a common or garden blog user with two 8 year old blogs on .org and have never had a problem before.

At the moment one of them is showing the line 1657 error and I can’t log in. The error is public on the top of the page to all viewers.

Can you advise if a fix from WordPress via an automatic update is likely soon or do I need to manually re-upload it. I don’t do regular updates so can wait if one is coming.
