Hi thanks for your help. I’ve just realised that the DNS was pointed to sedo parking, rather than 1and1 webspace, so after changing that it should work. It works for my other domains, which aren’t on sedo parking, so fingers crossed that was the reason.

    Thanks,
    Pete

So far I’ve downloaded the wordpress file, unzipped it, created a new MySQL, changed the config-sample to config.php and added all my details in, then I try to connect via Filezilla FTP by creating a new site, then putting in my 1and1 FTP account details. After all that, it doesn’t seem to be connecting? Do you use the same site for the wordpress sites? Or do you do what I’ve done and created a new site for each one have them both pointing at the same FTP account? I can’t see what I’ve done wrong here.

    Cheers,
    Pete

Oh right okay, so there’s absolutely no way of just switching URL without creating a brand new WordPress folder and everything else. Just out of interest, do you know what you need in order to set up another separate WordPress website? Do you need to create a new FTP, MySQL ect?

    Thanks,
    Pete

So if I wanted to change the website to a different URL, could I just change these two, then change the URL destination of the website name I want to my WordPress folder? Or would that not work?

    Thanks,
    Pete

    Okay thanks,

I had a few domains on my WordPress directory, so I’ve tried just redirecting them to another URL. I’m having a wild stab in the dark to see if that has affected things in some way.

I’ve also deleted my old GA profile because that was pointing to the same web directory as this and again, I’m not sure if it was effecting things a little.

Anyway, I’ve also tried installing a different plugin with minimal success. How do you edit a header.php and footer.php in wordpress?

    Thanks,
    Pete

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, just a few questions; what is multisite? Has it got something to do with more than one domain running on the same WordPress or something? Like I think I might not have changed one of my sites from pointing to the WordPress file aswell. The site is https://making-money-online.org/ if that helps. Or is that more to do with my GA account having more than one domain? Sorry I’m abit of a newbie.

By hard coding the GA code, do you mean simply pasting it at the bottom of a page? Because I did do that before with no luck. Would it help if I put the <html> and <head> and <body> at the top of the pages sources, then put the GA code just before the </head> at the bottom? Or would that ruin things if some of the page uses javascript?

    Thanks for your help,
    Pete

Btw does this suggest that the sharing plugin is faulty? Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_rtl() in /homepages/37/d372310960/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/hupso-share-buttons-for-twitter-facebook-google/share-buttons-hupso.php on line 530

What does your error message actually say? Like copy and paste what it comes up with when you put in your URL.

    Thanks for the reply,

I’m using the latest version. I’ve managed to get to the files by transferring them over to my filezilla account. Now I’m not really sure whether I should delete the plugin file and reinstall it by doing what it says on this article- https://www.famousbloggers.net/getting-ready-for-wordprss-3-3-solve-fatal-error-call-to-undefined-function-is_rtl.html or just wait it out and see if it’s a temporary problem with the new wordpress.

Thanks, I contacted 1&1 and it turned out that I had the domain pointing to the wrong folder. I should have had it pointing to wordpress/wordpress, but I only had it directed at the folder called wordpress. I wrongly assumed that you should use the primary folder, when in fact, you were supposed to use the sub folder. All is resolved now.

    Thanks again, Peter Roberts

Just my website- https://www.making-money-online.org. I’m not sure what is going wrong? Have you ever heard of anything like this?

    Hello again,

It still hasn’t let me get as far as getting to the WordPress dashboard. I’m not really sure what else I can do. One thing I have noticed is that it still has a Blogger logo at the top of my screen when I go onto my website. Is this a sign that I haven’t done something on my Blogger account that was essential in order to let WordPress work? Would I need to completely delete my Blogger account in order for this to work? I have already cancelled the domain name that I had for my blog and gone back to the default .blogspot domain that given to me. Let me know if you can see where the problem is.

    Thanks again, Peter Roberts

    Hi ChristiNi,

Sorry for the late reply, I have been doing quite alot of overtime recently, so haven’t really had the time to concentrate on this.

I have just exported my content from Blogger, then I installed a fresh copy of WordPress and made the domain destination as my WordPress file. I did have the domain name pointing to my Blogger account, but I changed this back to the default a while back, so I think it should be OK. The part I am struggling with is importing the content into my new WordPress installation. Do I just have to save the content into a folder, then upload it to my site?

    Kind regards, Peter Roberts
