Thanks for this. I have again downloaded, uncompressed to desktop and FTPed (FileZilla) to the https://www.magneticisland.info/blog directory according to the instructions. However I still get the same CGI error message in IE8, not only for wp-admin/install.php but also for wp-admin/install-helper.php, in fact any php file.

Does this mean that my server has not installed the write php scripts on my website or something like that?

Please advice. It has taken me an extraordinairy time to try to install, what seem to be a straightforward process. Thank you.

MySQL on my server is now version 5, however I now get a CGI Error “The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers”. I will open another blog to see if I can get any help for this one.

PHP is now installed on my server, however WordPress 2.9.2 requires MySQL version 4.1.2 or higher, whilst my server runs version 4.0.24. I’ll keep this “not resolved” untill I have succesfully resolved and installed.

Thanks for that. I thought that they did on my level, however I have asked them today whether that is true or not. Anyway, if they do support PHP it should run I presume?
