Resolved The latest WP update fixed it.

Just re-read this I forgot to tell you the theme. It is from Theme forest and is the Infocus theme

Hi thanks for looking. Yest it does it has the whole post.

I don’t know if it is relevant but around the same time this happened, something else strange occurred. when updating plugins automatically the unpacking screen occurs and the rotating circle to indicate it is working. That screen never completes, although the plugin is updated, the confirmation screen never appears.

Just in case it is related.

Now sorted. I found the wp-includes folder I had moved by mistake.
