So this is the portfolio page: https://standalonestands.co.uk/portfolio/. It shows images in 3 colums. I have no influence on the image size here other than changing the number of columns.
If you click on any of the portfolio items you will get single item page. The picture here is as per media settings – large image 620×930 – this is what I have set up in media settings and this is the size I want to use. however the image is added as featured image and I can only add 1240×1860 image (which I uploaded in the first place).
I have not run the plugin yet. So my question is what is your plugin going to do here? Nothing? Since the 1240×1860 (large is already there)
thanks for you help
Hi,
Thanks for such a quick reply Jordy,
My situation is:
– I define the largest size used on my website as 800×600
– I then upload 1600×1200 so the plugin can create retina imagesI create a post and want to add feature image from the media library. The only image I can see there is 1600×1200. I do not know how my theme is going to handle it. So I do not know if the theme is going actually to resize it or not. I think that yes because the image is probably about 600×400 on the actual page.
Question is:
1 – If the theme resizes down the image I picked from the media library then the plugin is going to create the retina image?
2 – Is it possible that the theme does not resize it (but instead just displays the image smaller by css style) and in that case the plugin cannot create the image. Do I then have to manually upload 3200×2400 ?regards,
Many thanks Jordy
regards,
So i understand that there is no real difference between retina plugin creating these images or me manually?
I just thought that since I haeve only one image that large I would like to disable this size in the plugin setting so that that large images are not created for all other smaller images.
And when I disable it then the @2x for the full-width img will not be created and therefore I will have to load it manually. To sum up. If I disable the large size in the plugin settings I will then have to create the retina image for it manually.
Is this correct?
regards,
Hi Jordy,
Many thanks for your time and advise.
Apologies for a confusion. The files I mentioned in point 2 above are only examples, not real files, to illustrate what happened to my real files I had uploaded.kind regards,

In reply to: Image in text widget does not workHi vtxyzzy,
Yep this is correct. The image is visible on both sites but the Caption is not. ON the UK site it is nicely fomratted. ON the PL site you can see the code:
[Caption…]Can you see that?

In reply to: flags do not bring relevant tag/category list in PolylangHi there,
I did as you suggested: changed the name of the homepage and upgraded to v8. Seems that this rectified the problem and flags switch between categories and tags in relevant lingos correct.
There is another thing I found however.
If you search for anything e.g clarinet in one of the languages (L2). And then hover a pointer above the L1 flag the url reads: https://www.homepage.pl/L1 (www.homepage.pl/en/) and when clicked brings unexpected results altogether – looks like random list of posts in language L1…..
Thanks Chouby,

Hello Again,
Same spelled tags seem to be sorted correctly by language in edit mode now once v 0.7.2 is installed.
However in Quick Edit mode filtering does not work and 2 tags are displayed (Perhaps sth for another version). So basically one can see 2 same spelled tags each for a different language.
regards,
PeterI can wait for the 0.7.2 so will use the workaround for the time being.
thanks,

In reply to: [Polylang] [Plugin: Polylang] tags issue in v 0.7Hi Chouby,
Brilliant job! Everything seems to be working ok. I will keep testing and report back any issues.BTW, I am happy to translate your plugin admin screens to Polish if you want. If you’re ok with it then I can contact you outside this forum on your yahoo email to discuss the process.

In reply to: linking post translations in v 0.7Glad I can help! Thanks for your support.
Here is what I did on my test site:
1. I tested the option in the language Settings – the red link you mentioned: ‘There are posts, pages, categories or tags without language set. Do you want to set them all to default language ?’ and then clicking ‘save changes’.
I confirm it works as intended.2. I uploaded the development version of the plugin through FTP. I did not uninstall the plugin nor deactivate it first. I simply overridden existing files with the new files through ftp. Hope this is ok.
When logged back into the WP admin. the plug in is active and is showing version 0.7.4.I tested the ‘undefined’ issue. It looks that it is rectified:
– I can add new tags without problems.
– tag metabox is showing tags relevant to the language of the post
– correct tags are shown and assigned to the post and translation also when they spell the same and the only difference is in the slugCongratulations Chouby! You hit the nail on a head. Looks like the job is done!
Please let me know if you want to test me anything more.
I will obviously test the new version once released.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: same spelled tags in different languages?? very good idea.
I noticed that filtering works well. I have to double check but I believe only tags relevant to the post language show in the tag metabox. Very very helpful.regards,

In reply to: linking post translations in v 0.7Hello Chouby ??
Spot on! This is exactly what happens re: Issue 1.
I thought that the language was set because the dropdown list displayed the default language. THe language was in fact only set after i ‘Updated’ the post.Re Issue 2.
I hope you are not tired with my constant writing here about my findings. Hope this feedback is of value to you.The more I use Polylang the more I like it! Brilliant plugin and couple of bugs are not going to change it.
