  • I had exactly the same problem even though I had de-activated the plug-ins. Had to do it manually but read above!

    Thank you very much- I have downgraded again to access the system,. I did deactivate the plug-ins but I did not look at the .htaccess nor try different themes (I was using Themes). I had not thought of looking at my server log either so all really good advice!

    Following this thread-I upgraded manually as the Auto did not run. I can get the page up but cannot enter the admin. I get this message
    Error 500 – Internal server error

    An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.
    I did back up WP Content and the wp-config so not sure what is going on. I have this loaded on a paid for server
