Hi Jory,
I’ve reopened this job, just to complete the circle as it were, and my apologies for the delay in reply, I’ve been slow in getting this done.
As you suggested (and thanks for the suggestion regards testing for a plugin conflict), I loaded the Health Check plugin and ran the troubleshooting mode. The result was that the loss of direct playability of the YouTube video embed was evident with only the Pods plugin and Visual Composer plugin operating under the Twenty Seventeen WordPress theme. I could not further differentiate between Pods and Visual Composer, as Visual Composer provides the framework in which Pods operates on the home page, and I lack the skill to work out which of the two appear to be implicated in the problem.
So, I have moved to your second suggestion, and created a full bug report and sent to your Pods GitHub forum (thanks again!).
Best wishes,
PeterHi Jory,
thank you for your reply; I am a Pods novice, so my responses need to be treated with caution, but to answer your questions:
(i) I have checked the Pods display settings of the field but I can only go so far with understanding what is required, as I didn’t build the functionality that Pods is supporting and I am doubtful I’d recognise an incorrect or missing setting. What I can say is that I have made no changes to the Pods settings within the time frame that the recent updates cover (ie., if I revert to the 2.7.31 update the video embed issue is resolved).
(ii) The field is displayed using a template which uses magic tags.I assume from your reply that you are of the opinion that this is a setting or coding issue unique to the website and not a Pods bug. If that is the case, it seems likly I’ll need to get help from somebody local to go through the settings and site functionality with me.
Any further thoughts you have would be very welcome.
Thanks for your time and best wishes,
Peter
