Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Upgraded to 5.3.2 and getting critical error accessing wp-adminUPDATE: It’s fixed….I think
Checked the DB and got no errors
Pretty frustrated at this point so I decided to blow up the install.
Deleted the wp-admin and wp-includes folders via FileZilla FTP
Reloaded clean copies into empty directories
Left the wp-content folder and the ancillary wp files that are in the main directory (outside those three folders) alone.Success…I can now access my dashboard
Now I am going to (very very carefully) begin reinstalling themes and plugins
Still not sure exactly what was wrong. I did a clean install once already and it did not fix the problem last night.
I am not going to tempt the Gods of WP and just going to do the happy dance that I can get back into the dashboard.

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Upgraded to 5.3.2 and getting critical error accessing wp-adminUPDATE: Still working the problem…..
Changed the DB number in WP_OPTIONS to match.
The old DB number was 44719
The WP-Config version indicated it should have updated to 45805Now I am getting a slightly different error message when I go to /wp-admin
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_available_post_mime_types() (previously declared in /home/xx/public_html/SITE.com/wp-includes/post.php:7141) in /home/xx/public_html/SITE.com/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 1194
Thank goodness someone is paying attention and trying to fix this. I love this plugin and have a lot of files committed to it. Having it fail was a major PITA.
I am very disappointed in whoever decided that keeping an older, working version available was a bad idea.
Thanks for the fix Fabian.
The newest version has been broken for months with no fix in sight.
I beat my head against the wall until I took mirojanosik’s advice and rolled back. I have been using the previous version (again) for a couple of months and it works flawlessly – even with the newest version of WP.
See above for the excellent directions from mirojanosik to roll back and quit searching for fixes that the developer is obviously not going to make.
Just my two cents….
I did exactly as mirojanosik suggested and rolled back to 3.1.0 and it worked perfectly. Yeah…no two-step FTp, sync and THEN find the files. One and done like it’s supposed to be.
Now all I have to do is remember not to upgrade until they fix that mess.
Thanks again mirojanosik for the step-by-step solution.
Also having problems uploading PDFs.
Have tried multiple uploads, file shows in File list but when you click on Download, error message File does not exist
Method i: upload with no category. File uploads, you can click on “Download” so you can view it, File displays. When you go back to the File List, the file is not there.
Method 2: upload with correct category. File appears to upload, but error message.
New development: multiple upload attempts (as evidenced by the appended number on the end of the file name) sometimes results in ONE instance of the file being accessible.
Hope this can be fixed…I have a LOT of files indexed through this system.
Thank you
Happy days are here again!
I deleted the widget app, reinstalled it, pasted in the feeds and I am good to go…
Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I can now email my client and have dinner in peace…I am lifting a glass of wine in your honor.
Okay…two fixed and one to go…
I deactivated the app, reactivated it, deleted the two feeds and added them again, refreshed the feeds and now I have these two working…
I am happier than I have been since 10 pm last night!
ok…just went back into the app and am copying and pasting the feeds that I have as part of the app…
https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/distgc%40gmail.com/public/full
https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/quincyschoolcommittee%40gmail.com/public/full
These are what the app is reading…these can be displayed when pasted in a web browser.
These are what are sending the error messages.
Shows the event and all details
Okay…here is what I just did
Logged out of all google accounts.
Logged back in to the google account associated with Cal #2.
Click on the little cog icon in the upper right corner and choose settings.
Click on the Calendar tab
Click on the specific calendar (there is only one listed)
Click on the Share This Calendar tab. checkbox next to Make This Calendar public is checked.
Click back on Calendar Details tab.
Click on XML button in the Calendar Address row (not the private address row).
Copy the link address
https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/quincyschoolcommittee%40gmail.com/public/basic
And then I can view by pasting into a google page, but still get the error message on the website
I also made sure that the check box next to “show only free/busy” is NOT checked
I just clicked on them and it tells me that I don’t have public access enabled…yet when I log in I have the check box next to make public checked…AND I can access them through a feed reader when I am logged out…
I am confused…
