Hi. Yeah, it was very frustrating. In the end I got my host, hostgator to look into it and they were able to fix it on their end. They were hesitant to do at first though – they said it wasn’t there problem, but a software issue with WordPress. Of course, WordPress told me differently. So I’m not sure what they did, but they fixed it.
I did all the stuff you did and I’m still a bit of a novice, so I recommend getting the host involved.
