In reply to: New User Registrationesmi,
You hit the solution. I had a registration plugin that was causing the interference. When removed, the login verbage kicked into action. Thank you for your help.

In reply to: New User RegistrationWhen I register as a new user, I’m not seeing those verbal clues. All I see are two blank boxes. I never paid much attention to this until a prospective new user brought this to my attention.

In reply to: IPad – not usable for creating and editing postsThe Safari browser is both a problem on my iMac and iPad. When I click on the box to enter the administration mode, everything on the right-hand edge of the blog disappears. Categories, blogroll, recent comments – all wigets vanish.
I tried the highly recommended Atomic browser for the iPad and the same thing happened.

In reply to: Pre-published Entries VisibleThey must be mine as I looked at the blog entry in question and another view was recorded. I thought WordPress stats did not record views by the author.

In reply to: Best EditorWalt,
My editor preference at the moment is TinyMCE, but I am still looking.

In reply to: Editing posts >>> return or enter key does not work“Don’t paste content from Microsoft Word into WordPress as the pasted text will also contain Word’s own formatting. Sooner or later, this formatting will stop your pages from being displayed correctly (if at all) in Internet Explorer. If you cannot possibly manage without Word, paste your text into NotePad (or another text editor) first, then copy from NotePad into WordPress.”
Do you mean to say that if one does a cut and paste one time I am running the risk of fouling up all future blog entries? I ask, as I did a cut and past from an old blog entry and I am now having the same problem as described above.
Is it this easy to corrupt the WordPress editor?

In reply to: New post problem in version 3.0I had similar problems in that the editor crashed on one site when I was using version 2.9.2. I thought it was a problem on the host server, and that still may be the case. All text vanished in the Visual editing screen, although it was visible in the HTML screen.
I had to begin all over again with a new site. WordPress 3.0 is running on the new site, and now the editor will not hold the “carriage return” so all paragraphs are running together. All looks fine when I end up with the blog entry. Even when I View Post all looks fine. But when I open up a fresh browser and examine the entry, the return key seems to be inactive so all paragraphs run together. I don’t have a solution, although I am deactivating plugins to see if that may identify the problem.

In reply to: Editor corruptedLooking over the possible solutions listed in the references, it appears as if the options narrow down to making a backup, delete all WP files, and start all over. Not a happy solution.
If one does not know what is causing the problem, there is a high probability one will need to go through this process again and again.

In reply to: New Links Not SavedThe https:// was there.
For some reason the link is now working. Perhaps I did not give it sufficient time to refresh the home screen.
I thought I had the “Authentication” problem solved by upgrading to version 2.8.2. After submitting a new blog entry and cleaning up the plugin problems, my blog just vanished. I am not able to access the site through the web or by trying to gain access through three different ftp programs. Did anyone else have this problem? I hope the hacker did not gain access to my username and password, and then change it.
I also upgraded to 2.8.2 and that seems to have solved the problem. I will be uploading new plugins as all mine contained corrupted code in the first line. I would certainly check on the plugins before reactivating old ones.
