In reply to: Home and Front page defaulting to blog?Ok, something wierd is going on I think. When I go to my main page under pages, it says front page, and in the right hand side where you indicated to change my template in use, it does say Front Page, and untouched it shows the correct page as I wish, but the moment I click on it, it reverts to the blog page content!

In reply to: Home and Front page defaulting to blog?I’ve turned the front page template back on so you guys can see it to see what I need to change.
I tried copying the non existemplate front page stuff but I can’t figure out how to paste it into the front page template.
This is driving me crazy, I spent all day yesterday trying to figure this out.

In reply to: Home and Front page defaulting to blog?Stuti: I have done that before all this and that isn’t the problem evidently.
Gerry, can you advise what to do since I can’t find the page tab under settings?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Home and Front page defaulting to blog? There is not page tab under the settings tab, the only template thing I can see is under the tools tab and it’s a editor for code changing. And even there, there is no front page template as I removed it. I tried bringing the front page template back and that was when I saw it having the query loop in it, you are correct.
However, I cannot find how to get to the page tab as there is none under settings.

In reply to: Serious home page problemHowever, the front page template is gone. Nevertheless, it opens to my home page now, as the settings (that I did have right) are set at.
I’d love to know how to add a front page template and not have it be the blog, I just tried to make one, and it set it as blog automatically and that is NOT what I want.

In reply to: Serious home page problemOk, I gave up and restored to previous backup. I’m very frustrated, I tried everything I could manage to read about.
It seems that somehow, the main page, while it existed, disappeared from the front page template and the blog took its place, and no matter what I did to restore it, it was no go.
Thank goodness I made a backup yesterday, sigh.
I sure wish I could have figured out how I broke it.

In reply to: Serious home page problemAs no solution has appeared yet, I have to set the default page to the blog page so I don’t lose viewers.
If anyone can help me, I’ll put it back to where it is now, which is with the home static page not working properly, it only loads as a tabbed section and the link does not work. However, that page exists and is editable.Gosh I hope someone can help me, this happened out of the blue, the only changes I had made were setting up Categories and Tags, which I had just learned about to some extent.
