In reply to: [Newscrunch] Child Theme CustomizerThanks for your reply.
I cannot use Child Theme Configurator as it will not run with my PHP version (5.6.36) and I cannot update my PHP due to software conflicts on other parts of my site. I’ve looked for 2.5.7 for the plugin which should work with my PHP but not found it to download.
I created a child theme for Newscruch with only the very basic information included within the CSS file (via FTP), but the customiser still will not work in WP and I get this error message emailed to me:
Error Details ============= An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 29 of the file ####/wp-content/themes/newscrunch/inc/customizer/settings/general-settings.php. Error message: Call to undefined function newscrunch_about_page()
What does it mean?

In reply to: [Rootspersona] Facts Showing Twice And In Wrong OrderI Ed, thanks for your reply.
As I mentioned in my original post, I checked the GEDCOM file and all information is only in there once. Any ideas where else I can check to see if the problem is at my end first, rather than the plugin?
Thanks,

In reply to: [Rootspersona] Multisite Activation ErrorNow I remember why I decided not to use it. I’m running WP locally via XAMPP, but Apache crashes when uploading the GEDCOM and no matter what setting I change I can’t seem to get it to work. I will test it out on one of my live sites.

In reply to: [Rootspersona] Multisite Activation ErrorHi Ed, thanks for your reply. Yes, I am using the most up to date versions of both WP and plugin (as per my first post).
I have noticed a few other posts here regarding multisite activation errors, so I’m not alone. I activated it last year but wasn’t ready to use it so deactivated it, therefor I know it should work with the few plugins and theme I use. However, when activated it crashes the WP admin section rather than sites, so I don’t think it’s a clash between plugins/theme but rather something with WP itself. I downloaded a fresh plugin to test against with the same results.
I’ve just now discovered that rather than “Network Activate”, if activated directly from the site I will be using it on it doesn’t caused WP to crash. This must have been what I did last time. It still doesn’t solve the network activation issue, but at least I can now tinker around wit the plugin until I am ready to make my site live.
Not to worry. I dug a little further down and discovered the Category Archives option. It now works!

In reply to: [Blackoot Lite] blackoot-lite Theme ProblemHi, lovely theme but I can’t get the footer to show no matter what settings I use. The footer shows up fine with other themes. I’ve noticed that when “previewing” this theme from my WordPress installation and even the WordPress site here the footer is still missing, so am wondering if the problem lies with my site or the theme itself.
I have created a footer menu and ticked “footer menu” under theme locations, and the footer menu is selected in the “navigation” settings of the theme customization menu. All these actions work for the header, but not the footer. I’ve tried specifying a footer on the page settings and leaving it blank, selecting full page and default page. Nothing works.
I hope you can help!
