Hi!
I had the same problem. Bitly returned to a wrong path, because my WordPress instance is located in a subfolder and I use different langauges and WPML. So the path was totally wrong, but I corrected the path manually in the browser address bar and then it worked.

Maybe you habe a similar problem and it helps you.
