    Hi Tiffany,

    Thank you for getting back to me promptly

    I just worked with my host to make those folder/directory name changes

    I got access to my site again, and it appears as though everything is working as it should be after changing the folder/directory name back again, and trying to successfully login again with the previous WordPress 2FA

    Cheers

    Hello,

    I’ve tried to be as patient as possible and to follow forum rules/guidelines by waiting for a reply from Wordfence support on this matter

    However, it’s been almost 3 days now without a response and the matter is very urgent at this point

    Could someone at Wordfence please help me address/solve this matter ASAP?

    Reading some more on this and potential solutions from other threads, reddit, and blogs …

    Would I have to do something like this to fix things? –

    1. Ask my host to deactivate wordfence from the plugin directory (I don’t know how to do this myself – I’d need them to do it)

    Look inside the?/wp-content/plugins/?directory and rename the?wordfencedirectory to?wordfence.bak. This will deactivate Wordfence and allow you to login without the 2FA code.??

    2. Check I can login properly with my pre-existing 2FA

    I’ll need to check if I can actually login from here

    If I can, what do I need to do with Wordfence and WordPress before I ask my host to name the folder back to?wordfence?again?

    Bear in mind, I’d like to just get rid of anything associated with this new wordfence 2FA and use the pre-existing one I was using with WordPress and Google Authenticator. I’ve still got the pre-existing 2FA set up in Auntheticator, so I’m assuming it’s still running

    What do I do if I can’t login?

    This issue only started after I activated the Wordfence 2FA, so I’m assuming the issue is Wordfence related

    ?

    Another note on this …

    I think I just figured out that the ‘2FA Status’ showing on the WordPress user screen was for Wordfence 2FA only

    My assumption was that it was for all 2FAs

    This was very confusing, and it’s a bit misleading to be honest, and has contributed to me being experiencing this issue

    I wouldn’t have gone in and activated Wordfence 2FA if I knew my existing 2FA was still active/enabled

    Wordfence should be able to pick up an existing enabled 2FA, and shouldn’t show ‘Inactive’ in that case. Or, at the very least, the message should read ‘Wordfence 2FA Status’ and not ‘2FA Status’, to let you know it’s only for Wordfence’s 2FA

    Really need help with resolving this please, and also understanding how to make sure my 2FA setup is good. As I mentioned, if you could please confirm that I can keep the 2FA I already have set up, and that that’s sufficient (and I don’t need to set up Wordfence 2FA), that would be my preference. 2FA is working on my other sites that I didn’t active Wordfence 2FA on fine, even though it’s showing the ‘Inactive’ message for 2FA Status in the WordPress user screen (which as I said – I think I understand now is just for Wordfence 2FA and not for other forms of 2FA)

    While I’m writing to you about this and you give me an answer on this question to help me regain access …

    Could you also please tell me what the correct process for setting up 2FA is in Wordfence if we already had 2FA set up through our WordPress User account and Google Authenticator?

    I have other sites I’m checking now that I also recently installed Wordfence on, and they say 2FA is now ‘Inactive’ when I check the User status in the ‘User’ section of WordPress

    However, when I log in to those sites, the WordPress/Google Authenticator 2FA is still set up/active, and I can login to the sites fine

    Need help resolving the lock out issue, and understanding what to do with existing 2FA vs using/activating Wordfence 2FA, as I’m quite confused

    If it’s an option for me to just use 2FA the way I have it set up already through WordPress, and not have to set it up through Wordfence, I’d prefer to do that

    Please let me know how to address this and if I can do this instead (and what I do about the ‘inactive’ status if this is the case)

    An update on this – I’ve just gone into post editor again, and the error has completely disappeared and it looks like everything is working normally again

    I didn’t make any changes or do anything – the errors just eventually disappeared

    Was this just a temporary bug with Yoast for the past few hours that has been addressed, and I don’t have to worry it coming back and the issue is now solved?

    Question number 2 related to this topic while I’m at it …

    Does the free version of GP have any other features that allow me to insert ‘Author’ information on posts?

    For example, is there a feature to insert an author byline at the bottom of the page in addition to having the author name at the top of the post, or, is the ‘User Biography’ section the only section that allows you to give details about post authors on the site?

    I’m trying to make changes to my site to satisfy ‘EAT’ (expertise, authority, trust), and my thinking was that just writing in the ‘User Biography’ section may not be enough or may not be getting recognised by google.

    If anyone has tips on what I can do with this with the free GP theme – would love to know your feedback.

    So I ended up coming up with a solution to this if anyone else is experiencing the same issue

    What I did was:
    1. Click ‘Keep As HTML’
    2. Copied the HTML code
    3. Made a new default WordPress classic block below the ‘tadv error’ block
    4. Pasted the HTML code into the new classic block (you have to change the new block from visual editor mode to HTML editor mode first)
    5. Deleted the ‘tadv error’ block
    6. Saved/updated post

    The tadv code is removed, affiliate links are still in tact, and the post is now able to be modified

    Hope this helps someone

    Hi Tom,

    I ended up deleting the plugin because I couldn’t get it to display page information on the user’s end, so unfortunately I don’t have a working page example right now

    I also have the CSS above activated on the site in question right now, so I won’t be able to test if it’s the plugin doing anything unless I delete that CSS (which I don’t want to do right now as the code actually looks decent and is doing what I want it to)

    I will come back to the forum if I want to change over to the plugin at some point, and I’ll give you a page link to check out

    Thanks for your help

    Thank you

    Yes – it allows you to do a whole range of things including but not limited to modifying the updated date, modifying the format, changing the location from top to bottom of the page, and so on

    This worked perfectly

    Thank you so much for your help – I appreciate it!

    I don’t know what a function is to be honest – I’ve never used one I don’t think

    With another website I have – I’ve always just put code (for GSC, Analytics, and most other tracking codes or ad codes) in the header tag section in the Theme Settings (the theme by default places the code before the </head> tag in html)

    I really just want a standard way (via a lightweight plugin for example) to add standard codes (analytics, GSC, ads, affiliate tracking etc.) to either the header or footer (body tag).

    Is there an easy and simple way to do that or do you always have to write the function/code specifically?

    I’m pretty confused at this point as I’m used to using beginner type WordPress themes where the theme settings have sections to enter external codes.

    I’m thinking Header Footer Code Manager plugin sounds easiest at this point unless there’s a simple manual way.

    Also another question, if I am using Code Snippets plugin, how exactly do you add a new snippet?

    With Google Search Console as an example, would I name the snippet “Google Search Console Verification”, then just put the function (like the GA function code above) in the code section and click save changes?

    Thank you to you both.

    From what I can see – that mentions the Google Analytics function –

    add_action( ‘wp_head’, ‘tu_add_analytics’ );
    function tu_add_analytics() {
    ?>
    Your GA code in here
    <?php
    }

    What does the function look like for Google Search Console?
