One thing I was thinking of doing was to get rid of the rounded rectangle around the top, and instead put a rounded rectangle around the entire middle column (of course I’m not actually sure how to do this yet).

Do you think that would help or hurt?

Thanks for your feedback. I will look into making the sidebars and the middle column all narrower… I’m not exactly sure how to do it with the theme I have.

Okay, the problem is fixed. I just had to move one of the </div> tags into the proper place (above the “else” code in the category template).

Thanks for your reply. I tried setting the theme back to default, and the same validation errors came up. So how can I reinstall wordpress without losing everything I’ve done so far?

Thanks for replying. Yeah, that line of code isn’t in the sidebar…. so if it is generated by WordPress is there some way I can fix it? Do I have to reinstall everything? If so does that mean I have to start from scratch?

Thanks for your replies! I will try to add in the extra >, but a quick question… do you happen to have an idea of what file I would have to open to change it? That’s where I am getting a little confused. I’m pretty sure I can’t change it by simply using the Theme editor, because I’ve been through all of those files already.

What I wanted to do was make the entire display of the categories page exactly like the display of the index page. I achieved that by basically copying the code on the index page that makes the posts display the way they do and then putting that in the category page in place of the code that was already there. So I achieved what I wanted to, but I must have messed up when I was copying and pasting because now there’s a bit of an alignment problem.

all I did was copy and paste the template code from the main index template that shows posts and put that in place of the code that shows posts in the category/archive pages… but I think I messed it up anyway because now there’s a bit of a nesting problem.

Thanks, that’s what I’m working on right now. I just keep getting confused because sometimes I’m not really sure where to find the mistakes it is coming up with (meaning, I’m not sure which template file I have to alter to fix it.)

Okay, now there is a bigger problem! When you click on the category pages, all of the posts there are somehow nested in one another, and then there are a series of bottom borders at the end. I must have done something stupid but I just can’t seem to figure it out!
