I used UpdraftPlus but it annoys me with its “upgrade to pro” banners.

I got the same negative answer from my hosting provider (shared server). I have enabled a different backup plugin now as a workaround but I liked this one better. It would be great if there was a fix.

Hi, I have the same issue since I updated to version 3.0.2 and I’m looking for a solution.
exec() has been disabled for security reasons in ….. functions/interface.php on line 106

When I disable the Backup WordPress plugin the error message disappears.
