  • Love the theme and slider. I am using it on a multisite.I have discovered one glitch on my end. I am trying to link the slider photos to other pages.

    The field SHOW LINK? seems to do nothing. And the field LINK with the # in it won’t build a link. I have tried the permalink page code, the short code, and the page number. Nothing works. Nothing shows up on the slide photo that says READ MORE.

    I need help in layman’s terms I don’t know have the know-how to mess with the html. I have temporarily directed readers to the site MENU above. You can see my problem at https://www.EyeOnMonroe.com

    Thanks for any help you can give me.

    I’m back again. I dismantled the page and the box is still there. I tried changing the title to Late Breaking News to incorporate it into the design, but I can’t resize and re-position it to a good size.

    I have a Construction Sign Up.

    Let me know what time I can take it down so you can see the site. I am on Eastern Standard Time. (By the way, Your no reply emails really make it hard to communicate information you need.)

    Is there a way to go back to the default settings on the front page only without affecting the other 9 pages of content?

    Hi, again, Paul. I just built the new front page on the 2nd sub domain in minutes. No problems. I must have done something wrong that I didn’t catch on the first sub-domain. I’ll dismantle the page and see if I can start over. Thanks for all your support. I’m learning so much.

    Here’s the CSS from the front page of the s2nd sub-domain.

    CSS 2nd Subdomain

    .main-area {
    display: none;
    }

    #mtphr-dnt-widget-3.widget.mtphr-dnt-widget {
    height: 20px;
    color: #eb1111;
    }

    header {
    font-weight: bold;
    }

    I am going to build the front page and see if the Hello World box reappears. If it doesn’t I will try to dismantle the front page on the trouble sub domain and start over. What do you think?

    Here’s the crazy thing. I am building six sub-domains. I began building two at once. On the second one, I clicked something and the Hello box disappeared. I thought “great. I found the solution.” But by the time I went back to the first box, i had forgotten where I did it. (Somewhere in customization. I know. Stupid me for not writing it down.) Although I have gone through every setting comparing the 2 sub-domains side by side, I can’t find the difference.

    What do you mean by ‘Can I link to the sub-domain and point to the Hello World box?’ You’re talking tech and I’m just a novice. I am set up as a multisite with network administration.
    I can build my sub-domains independent of one another.

    I deleted the trash, but I had done it before. Unfortunately I am the only one working on this. You can see my “mother” site at https://www.MyEyeOnTowns.com. I am using WP 4.4.2 and the SG Window Theme. I ran into the same problem, but was able to change the shape & text of the box. It’s the “Check out these opportunities…” box.

    I am now building the sub-domains. The front page on them is the same. The photos and my column will change every month. So it can’t be static. I didn’t like the position of the blog module or the comments capability, so I went to using Site Origin’s Layout Builder.

    Should I disassemble the whole front page and just start over? I thought I was following all the documentation.

    Please advise. I have no help because the mentor who promised me the site tried to hijack my business. I have to learn it all myself and fast. Thank you for your continued help.

    Hi, Paul, thanks for trying to help. I emptied the cache. Not the cause. I fiddled with the CSS and screwed up my site. Backtracked all day and have it back, still with the Hello World Box which now reads Nothing Found. I can find no way to delete it. This is the CSS that needs to be changed. When I tried to “hide” the box because I didn’t know how to delete it, I hid all the content on all my pages. What a mess. Is there some way I can change this CSS to kill that box and delete the extra space that will be left?

    .panel-grid-cell .widget-title {
    color: #0e8025;
    font-size: 27px;
    font-style: italic;
    }

    a:hover {
    font-style: italic;
    color: #ed1111;
    }

    #comment {
    height: 90px;
    }

    h2 {
    font-size: 19px;
    color: #1166ab;
    }

    article {

    }

    .nothing-found > article {

    }

    .boxed-content .main-area {

    }

    Thanks again,

    I did that and put Hello World in the trash, but this message remains now in the module block:

    “Nothing Found

    Ready to publish your first post? Get started here.”

    I can’t get rid of the module. It’s still on my front page. I can’t find it listed in posts, or columns, or blogs. It’s just there.

    Thank you for the reply, Bet. I did it manually and everything is working well.

    Thank you for all your tips. I’m working on it and will report.

    Thanks for the response. I figured it out. There was no “Display Link” tick in the widget. It asked for a Link#. I thought they meant Page#. Wrong. I finally deleted the “Link#” and dropped in the UHL.
    Presto! It works.

    I’ve installed the SG Slider widget. I indicted I want 3 photos. However Slider #1 appears twice so I have 4 slider photos. I have tried deleting the widget and re-doing it, but the double slider always comes back although I indicate I want only 3. How do I get rid of the duplicate slider?

    I also want to make the three photos larger as in the SG front page demo. How do I do it? Can’t seem to find a way.

    Can anyone help me, please?

    Cats_456, you are wonderful. I’m a newbie to WordPress and struggled for three days to get rid of the laptop logo on my front page. You made my day. I was ready to shoot the computer. Thank you for your comments to Bob.

    That’s what I’ve been working in, but the image is still there along with the old header. I got into the html and thought I blew it away. But it came back. I am a novice at this. I’m wasting hours. Thanks for trying to help me.
