In reply to: [WooCommerce Blocks] Products by Category block does not list all productsThis isn’t resolved. His question was how do I show 42 products on a page? Your block editor has a max of 4 columns, 6 rows meaning a max of 24 items is all we can display. On my site I have several product categories that have around 30-50 products and yet cannot show more than 24 or 18 if we set 3 columns. There is no ability to expend this or even have a ‘next page’ to show more items….
It would also be handy long term to allow displaying the product meta fields like category, author, date, even short description etc…- This reply was modified 4 years, 8 months ago by Kevin Trye.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Missed the pointTend to agree. This reminds me of the changes microsoft made when they moved from the windows XP/Win7 GUI to the nightmare that became windows 8-10. Someone thought it a ‘good idea’, since doing fancy visuals and an apple look seemed in vogue. But the 99% of existing users all hated and despised it. Still do. For myself, I moved to a Chromebook and never looked back. WordPress should learn from other developers mistakes. Having it as a plugin option makes sense. Pander to the arty types if you have to, but don’t force it down our throats.
If you change some of the avatar default settings for larger files seems to help and reduce some of the errors.
Looks like the WP User Avatar is the problem plugin.
ps. I used user role editor and some custom functions to set the capabilities, not AAM.
Hi John,
It could be a core issue. Another forum guy with a similar problem ended up modifying one of the wp-includes javascript files! I don’t want to do this. We run a custom genesis theme, and the only plugins that I have that are similar to yours are akismet, wordfence and the most likely one could be WP User Avatar? I will disable these and see if that fixes it.John, i have this exact same problem and no fix. Perhaps we should swap notes on the wp version and plugins we’re using? See if there’s something common.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] keywords are not important for SEO?Meta keywords have been ignored by google and most other search engines since 2004/5, hence it’s turned off by default by yoast. Google looks at page titles and content instead. Just because others do it doesn’t make it right. Often html software will still generate the tag entry in the header, but there’s little point in adding anything to it. It’s likely only useful if you setup a site as part of an internal intranet where it could be handy for local [company] searches.
Ref https://tinyurl.com/839ya7wIt’s certainly an annoying bug, as all my sites are 3.5 now and all use this plugin. Hopefully someone smarter than I will find a patch.
Me also. Regardless of the image size/pixels uploaded it always scales down to the same tiny, unreadable item in the top left. This may be fine for those with a small simple logo, but not others. Changed a couple items in the css but obviously not the right file.
With a little more playing around, here’s the combination tht allowed it to work more reliably when uploading large (typ 100MB) zipped files. I’m no programmer so not sure if it’s ideal, but it worked for me. Two files were changed.
wp-config.php
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’);then, in the wp-backup-to-dropbox.php increased memory limit from 150 to 256 and the error timeout from 5 to 30 seconds.
define(‘USE_BUNDLED_PEAR’, true);
define(‘BACKUP_TO_DROPBOX_MEMORY_LIMIT’, 256);
define(‘BACKUP_TO_DROPBOX_VERSION’, ‘1.2.2’);
define(‘BACKUP_TO_DROPBOX_ERROR_TIMEOUT’, 30); //seconds
define(‘EXTENSIONS_DIR’, implode(array(WP_CONTENT_DIR, ‘plugins’, ‘wordpress-backup-to-dropbox’, ‘Extensions’), DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR) . DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR);I have added the zip extension to speed up the process of downloading to dropbox, which works fine on small sites. But there’s a major issue with the file sizes. Sites where the upload is over around 20MB don’t work. I have several wordpress ecommerce site that are around 100MB and it won’t upload the zipped files from the host server. The zipped files stay on the host in the backup folder. This makes the software somewhat useless to me unless someone can provide me ideas on how to get around this. Has the same problem on 2 different host servers, including hostgator. Changed the php.ini file to increase memory to 150MB which did get rid of some errors, but still no uploading to dropbox. I know uploading of large files is always an issue. Had similar issues with wpmanage system too on large sites. Obviously another parameter on the host needs changing.
Seems there’s little interest in studiopress updating this for Google+ and others, might need to do it myself…

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] [Plugin: Contact Form 7] Not Receiving EmailsHave the same problem and understand this is affect other forms as well. However, to make things more complicated, there is a server aspect involved. I have one site running wp3.2 with contactform7 running okay, but exactly the same theme and plugins on another host server doesn’t work. But this only occurred after the 3.2 upgrade.
Also, it’s only the notification email that’s not working. The reply email does work!Short answer is to avoid 3.2 for a while longer…. I generally wait 6 months after a big upgrade, but thought this time I’d take the risk.
