In reply to: How to replace foreign wordThis is the theme with the Cyrillic words that knotty is referring to:
https://www.alexking.org/software/wordpress/themes/blog/index.php?wptheme=Sharepoint+likeThis was my theme (submitted a week prior to the one above):
https://www.alexking.org/software/wordpress/themes/blog/index.php?wptheme=Simple+GreenBut my comment wasn’t anything against you, moshu. I just find it ironic how the whole theme (including html comments and placeholder text) was copied word for word from my theme except, apparently, the comments and categories text. Just funny, that all. ??

In reply to: How to replace foreign word“I remember seeing it in one of the themes… Probably the author forgot to change it from his/her mother tongue”
You know, this strikes me as funny…because everything else was taken word for word from my theme (which was in English). ??
Okay, okay. I’m done playing antagonist now. ??

<a href="link">Link</a>

In reply to: html stripping? If you’re talking about the embedded link (i.e. in Word, click on “hyperlink” to create a link on a certain word/phrase) then no, it won’t do that. WordPress isn’t a WYSIWYG editor, so there’s no way for it to parse that information to tell what is a link and what’s not.
If you type out the link code in Word (i.e. link text) then it will keep your link tags.

In reply to: html stripping? It’s how they designed it. Only the developers can tell you that.
You ought to look into Alex King’s WP Unformatted plugin (works in 1.5).

In reply to: “Warning: Cannot modify header information…”This usually happens there there are extra lines/spaces before and after the opening and closing <php ?> tags in the plugin .php file.

In reply to: WordPress in Flash? Lets see somebody beat thatI wasn’t aware it was a competition. ??
It’s nice and very cool and all, but I’m still not a big fan of flash. Especially not entire sites done in flash.

In reply to: Relative Paths to Images and PermalinksCurrent directory. And “../” means one level up.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Relative Paths to Images and PermalinksIt’s because permalinks (or mod_rewrite) fake the browser into seeing a different directory structure. For all intents and purposes, as long as you have permalinks enabled, your post is in the directory called “post-name”, in the directory called “08”, which is in the directory “2002”, which is in the public_html directory.
Sooo….if you use relative urls, it will naturally think your image is in /2002/08/post-name/pics.
Just do as dbowen suggested, and use an absolute URL. It doesn’t have to be the whole thing including domain name. “/” is the equivalent as “www.yourdomain.com/”. Just the same, “/pics” would be like saying “www.yourdomain.com/pics”.
If you change your images to reference like this, then it shouldn’t be a problem when you want to switch domain names. ??

In reply to: My awesome blogtheres something not right but i just can’t put my finger on it
The blue outline on the menu h2 looks out of place. It’s too bright, and doesn’t show enough contrast. I think it would look a lot better outlined with the same dark gray as the container border. Just my opinion.
Great job otherwise. ??

In reply to: Links in and permalinksYou oughtta be careful with displaying referrers on your site, though. My logs show lots of referrers coming from “adult” and travel sites (hoping to catch on those referrer links…same principle as trackback and comment spam)…

When posting an article, there’s a button in the quicktags called “more”. click on it, and it’ll insert the tag above in your textbox where you want your break to go.
When you publish your entry, it’ll show up as a (more…) link, and if you click on it, it’ll take you to the rest of the article.
