I have about 5 WordPress deployments on Fedora 10 and had to upgrade to WordPress 2.8.5 (Security Hardening Update) and my most common issue in doing the auto upgrade was the browser would show the zip file being downloaded (www.ads-software.com/wordpress-2.8.5.zip.) then stop. My work around? I kept trying until it worked. Sometime numerous attempts. My fear in doing it this was was a botched upgrade, but so far so good. All 5 sites “appear” do be upgraded. Before V2.8.5 I’ve had no issues with the auto upgrade. Don’t know if this is related but I do have an issue requiring reboot/process restarts in which WordPress gets “very” sluggish. This may be a resource issue on my server (512M RAM) of which I’m investigating. My last upgrade finally worked after a reboot of the server.
