@comediann – that’s great… where can i find a local copy of the functions.php file from v2.8.4 to which i can add that snippet of code? also, where does it go in the wordpress directory?
@esmi – if it were only that easy… 8/
i’d put it on my host and install a modern version of WP, if i could, but unfortunately this is a client who has a contract with another ISP, so i have to do it their way.
continuing after step 4)
5) go back to the main page, and click the “refresh” button
RESULT: the link changes from “Log In” to “Log Out” and there is a “Site Admin” link above it.
6) click on the “Site Admin” link.
RESULT: “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
7) go back to the main page, and click the “Log Out” link.
RESULT: “You are now logged out.”
i don’t know how FTP will help me, but i have FTP access…
using [email protected] doesn’t work either: RESULT: “ERROR: Invalid username. Lost your password?”
unfortunately, i don’t have access to phpmyadmin… another important thing that my ISP doesn’t give me access to… 8/
