I have the exact same problem. The timeout message occurs within seconds of starting the backup. I can backup neither the database nor the file system.
Running 2.2.18
Wordpress 3.4.2

I’m running 0.24 but still there is no space between date and author.

How can I make it look like
“12th September, 2012 by authorname”

That would be great but can’t see how to do it. I tried
customfield_display=date,’ by ‘,author
and
customfield_display=”date,’ by ‘,author”
but neither worked

All I get is
October 31, 2012admin

Please note I am trying to change the date format as well – unsuccessfully!

Sorted – in a round-about way!!

Please can you include another option so that we could add
status=future
or
status=publish

That would be so much simpler

All OK now. Had to do a manual download of 3.3.2 as the 3.3.1 download wasn’t available and the automatic download didn’t work.

There aren’t any widgets – the widget page is empty

I raised a ticket with the hosting company. I then discovered that I could add pdf media but not jpg not gif media.

Anyway, the server logs showed some errors relating to permissions having come from the upload script.

Any ideas why?

I forgot to say that I have followed the advice to reload all files in the wordpress directory and it didn’t make any difference.

I just haven’t a clue what to try next.
