    Hi daniel,

Thanks for your quick reply. I’m still confused though, I’m not sure what the purpose of typing in a “widget option” in order to display the available options is but I did get it working and I like the end result. Thanks again.

I just checked it again and I saw the same thing. But I guess if I’m the only one seeing it, then it’s nothing to worry about.

    Hey Terry,

I’m the one who reported the overlapping elements and I’m using IE 7.0. I checked it again in FireFox and it looks fine.

You don’t need to know html, css, etc. to run a WordPress site (although it can help). To start, you should go to the Themes Directory and pick a theme you like. They’re easy to install, just follow the directions.

Your site looks very nice! I would probably eliminate the ‘Recent Articles’ section at the bottom seeing that you already have those links in your sidebar. Additionally, when you start getting comments it will look cluttered down there.

Overall it looks good. It has a nice clean look that political blogs should have. I agree with the previous comment regarding the header however.

Also, a couple of the elements are overwriting the menu bar somewhat, the RSS feed and the Air America image.

The changes you made at jonimueller’s suggestion have definitely improved the look of your site. I also like the rotating quotes in the header. Looking good!

    > Are our comments inciteful or insightful? Or perhaps a little of both? ??

    Mental note to self: SPELLCHECK!!

–TVDinner: Your comment is still there. You commented on the ‘America’s dirty little secret’ article. Take another look and you should see it. Let me know if you don’t. And thanks for your input.

–imgoel: There are a couple of AJAX’d plugins but I believe the overall speed of the site is due to my webhost, HostGator.

–McShelby: Some excellent suggetions, thanks. You’re absolutely right about ‘User Menu’ being there for my convenience. As far as the text size, does anyone know how to add the buttons you sometimes see that allows the user to control the size?

Thank you everyone for your inciteful comments! Funny about that calendar, I thought the standard WordPress calendar was too narrow so I went with this one, but I will definitely reconsider that choice now.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for checking my site SA, I’m not sure yet if I’ll change the type size or not but I sure appreciate your input.

So then garfinkel, you would need me to email you the php files for the widget, I guess? The widget allows you to do things like centering, it just doesn’t persist the settings. Of course, if all you were thinking of doing was to tweek the widget to center the pic, that would be excellent.

Actually, I’m having HostGator move my site to their servers for me saving me all the trouble of reconfiguring WordPress and reinstalling all my plugins. Hopefully that will happen today or tomorrow. The site will then be found at https://progressiveworldreview.com.

How would you be able to center that pic? If you can help I certainly would appreciate it.

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, I know it the site isn’t very exciting, it’s all about the content. I just want it to be easy to use and professional in appearance.

I’ve setup an account with HostGator, hopefully they will speed things up, thanks garfinkel for the recommendation, the transfer should be complete by 3/19/08. As for centering my picture, I agree it would look better centered but the widget can’t seem to do this.

    Thanks again.

I agree with the others. A professional and pleasing look.
