2015 activated, all plugins deactivated.

I have managed to get the category that wasn’t working to display it by changing it’s display type from default to products.

Not on my site it doesn’t. Makes no difference if I turn off al plugins and use 2015 theme, it simply does not display everywhere.

Heh, not sure how that happened, fixed it anyway.

these are from my development site running Sydney Pro theme, but the exact same happens on the live site running storefront.

No, behaviour is exactly the same with it disabled, using woo’s own storefront theme as well.

Actually some categories don’t show the sorting options either. That is really weird.

Right, all up and running now, did a plain old fashioned export from phpmyadmin on old site and imported to new, adjusted the site url and home url in the new database after import which took care of that part.

The missing files – I went back to the whole site backup zip and noticed for some reason the directory structure was all screwed up – all the files which are in home/coastlin/public_html on the server were saved there and also as home/ in the archive. Extracted to local disk and rearranged where they all belong, re zipped and uploaded to new server and unzipped and all works perfectly.

WordPress 4.1.1 Running woocommerce storefront theme. I had 2 bits of customisation in the functions.php of the storefront theme. Once the customisations were removed, the child theme was created without incident and is now working well with the customisations added to the child.
