Hm, I got that to work, but it appears something else is wrong. I’m getting a page not found error at the member page, even though it is created as a (private) page on the back end. I thought it might be a theme issue, but it gets the same result when I switch themes, including to 2014.

On my template, it’s apparently going to the wrong template too—I’ve set it to a page template, but it’s displaying archive links, which I don’t have displayed on any of my page templates. It’s picking up my index.php, I think. So I guess the problem is bigger than the plugins. :\

Thanks, Paul. I actually installed that this aft, but the settings are pretty complicated and it’s not wholly transparent what they do. Will continue to try to figure it out.

BTW, I tried just selecting the subcategory and deselecting the main category when editing the post, but that breaks things. (It doesn’t even show the article under the original main category listing if I do that, and wants to make the sub a main category of its own.)

Well, all I have available in the themes folder are custom themes. It’s not clear to me why I can’t access those themes with this site, or make them available to it from the Multisite admin.

I’m guessing WP will only generate a blank page (no HTML in source whatsoever) if no theme is available, correct?

“You do not appear to have any themes available at this time.”

I guess content blocks would be the way to go. ?? Unless you have a better suggestion.

Gah. Thanks. I realized that with all the emphasis on the wp-admin and wp-includes folders, I failed to upload the root directory files. The wording in the upgrade doc isn’t as clear as it could be, but still: Duh.

Grr, that’s what I was afraid of.

That file breaks my page and I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_shortcode_regex() in /home/rabsaul/public_html/wp-includes/formatting.php on line 95

??

I did that. I deleted the old files first. I have uploaded all the files at least twice.
