In reply to: [Custom Post Type UI] Nested Posts Alternatives?Let me use actual examples (‘biplane’ was an example and I think it made it more confusing :)):
— https://mysite.com/airports/texas/
—- https://mysite.com/airports/texas/flights-to-dallas-fort-worth-international-airport-dfw‘Airports’ would be the custom post type, and set to ‘archive’. The URL is https://mysite.com/airports/airports
I would create a page named ‘airports’, (where I list airports by state).
Then in Permalink Manager Pro I would set the Permalink to https://mysite.com/airports/ which should show
the page ‘airports’ I created? This is what Maciej said:
‘By default, if you define the ‘biplanes’ custom post type, the https://mysite.com/biplanes will display the post type archive (that lists all that CPT single items just like “Blog” page with posts does).
You can use Permalink Manager Pro to mix-up/remap the predefined permalink structures and overwrite this archive with regular page by simply changing its custom permalink to “biplanes”. Then, Permalink Manager will force that new page instead of the archive.’
And in your idea, ‘United States’ airports would be ‘parent posts, which I still do not understand (maybe because I’m thinking of this like pages).

In reply to: [Custom Post Type UI] Nested Posts Alternatives?Yes, so once I created a page named ‘biplanes’ it is now mysite.com/biplanes/biplanes/ (don’t want that).
So are you saying I would use Permalink Manager to rewrite this? (I have Permalink Manager Pro installed already actually :))
How do I switch Texas to a ‘Parent Post’ so they’re top level? (apologize, I get tripped up with all the terms….so I appreciate your help!)

In reply to: [Custom Post Type UI] Nested Posts Alternatives?Hi Michael,
As per your example above, I made a custom type:
Then a custom taxonomy assigned to it (‘Texas’):
https://mysite.com/biplanes/texas
So can ‘biplanes’ be the ‘index’ page for this setup where I can have content residing there? I created a page ‘biplanes’ in the Biplanes CPT so I have ‘biplanes/biplanes’
That make sense?

In reply to: [Custom Post Type UI] Nested Posts Alternatives?Hi Michael,
Hey…thank you for getting back to me on this! This makes sense. I’m going to create some examples in my dev site. I think I will have one follow-up…I’ll know once I get something up.
Thanks!

In reply to: How to Pull API Data in to my WordPress Page?Hi Corrina,
The few items I mentioned in my original post (WP REST API, shortcode to display data)…am I on the right track that I will be using these?
Also…if I develop a plugin, I wouldn’t have to mess with the functions.php?
Thanks. ??

In reply to: How to Pull API Data in to my WordPress Page?I looked at some other platforms…but for what we want to do…Wordpress made the most sense. I was concerned it might not handle a robust build…but that appears not to be the case so far.
Yes, just look at flight data and there will be a form where they can do a lookup…I didn’t mention that.
Flight booking engine comes later actually.

In reply to: How to Pull API Data in to my WordPress Page?Hi Corrina,
Thanks for your reply.
On the plugin…not sure why either. I’m new to this. I was told it was ‘risky’ for a big site. There is a plugin called WPGetAPI but haven’t looked at it.
Actually, I’m considering (or was) Aviation Stack as the data provider but I cannot get them to reply to my pre-sales inquiries. I’m looking at FlightStats as well.
I was thinking WordPress because of SEO…these will NOT be fully dynamic pages…and we have certain goals that we can achieve by the pages also having unique content on them.
Do you have any suggestions other than WordPress?
End user will be just for information: Airport/flight info, flight tracking etc… is that what you mean?
Thanks
Ken
Thanks Mark!
Very helpful and I’ll post back here if I have additional questions.

In reply to: [Weblizar Pin It Button On Image Hover And Post] Button not showing on mobileHi,
I have an issue with the plugin on pages (posts seem to be fine):
1. It won’t show at all on mobile devices.
2. On desktop, the pin it shows just outside the image and when you go to hover (to pin) the button disappears.
I’ve tried disabling cache.
Let me know what I can try.

Hey gixty7,
Yeah I need this fixed too. I don’t know what to do. Might have to pay someone.
Any ideas on this?
Ken
Hi,
I turned off the page cache section of W3 and the pages show up fine now. So it’s definitely some conflict with that part of W3 and YOURLS it looks like.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks!
