Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Internal Server Error due to subdomain redirectHow are you setting up the redirects? Are you using a plugin, or setting up CName entries in your DNS manager? Also, if you’re wanting to do a https://www.siteB.com setup, check that it’s not already taken? You may also need to purchase that domain from your host/domain registrar to ensure it’s actually yours to use.
Also, check your file permissions in your CPanel file manager or using an FTP client. If you need any help doing any of this, just let me know and I or another member of the community can post some more info to walk you through any steps you’re struggling with.

In reply to: i can’t install classic editor, and can’t open edit pageWhat plugins are you using? Could be there’s a conflict between plugins, or between classic editor and your theme. Also, is your account an Admin account?
Try creating a new Admin account and logging in from that new account as well, to test if there’s an issue with a specific account or with the editor in general.

In reply to: [Easy Testimonials] Bugs with latest WordPress/GutenbergThanks for letting us know. I’ve used this plugin not only on my own company’s website, but a number of my clients’ as well, and was concerned it may have been abandoned and I’d have to go through dozens of websites changing everyone’s testimonials to a different plugin.
Hopefully this patch means that mountain of work won’t be needed now.

In reply to: [Easy Testimonials] Bugs with latest WordPress/Gutenberg(@fbc21ca Thanks for sharing this with us. I’d suspected, given the dev’s lack of activity they may have abandoned this plugin, even for their paid customers, but your confirmation is very helpful.
If getting a hold of them to get a refund gives you no more success then getting tech support, I’d recommend you work with your payment processor, be it your credit card provider, or PayPal or whatever you used, to get a chargeback on your purchase. The fact that they have completely and utterly failed to deliver your purchase, as long as you can produce the receipts, or they fail to counter your claim, should be sufficient to get your money back.

In reply to: [Easy Testimonials] Bugs with latest WordPress/GutenbergI’m getting this as well, on multiple different sites I’m working on. I’m using the classic editor plugin so I’m not sure if the issue is with Guutenburg or another part of the WordPress core.
I’m also finding the shortcode builder isn’t working, the page loads but none of the form objects respond to commands. Clicking does nothing at all and no shortcodes are generated.
It’s possible Really Simple SSL and BackupWordPress are causing a comparability issue with each other. After deleting BackUpWordPress and using 3.2.2, I was able to get Really Simple SSL working by activating plugins 1 at a time to check for any compatibility issues with plugins. Couldn’t include BackUpWordPress in this test as that plugin’s already causing a known issue with the website where it triggers an error message site wide. Deleting that plugin seems to allow me to activate Really Simple SSL v 3.2.2 without issues.
I’ll have to contact BLuehost support to recover access to wordpress before I can do anything else.
3.1.5 also causes this issue
I’ll need to reactivate the plugins which are currently all disabled. Then I can create an admin account for you to use to troubleshoot. I’ll contact you through your site shortly.
The issue is definitely Really Simple SSL. The problem only surfaces when the plugin is active. I suspect the reason deleting it did not fix the issue when I used FTP was that parts of the plugin where left behind due to a non-standard deletion, and those parts caused the error to persist. Reinstalling it and then activating and disabling it normally via a backend that bypassed the regular wp-admin panel available through Bluehost fixed it.
This plugin being the cause is also confirmed by Bluehost Tier 2 tech support.

@rogierlankhorst – I’ll have to get back to this in a bit, looks like a support tech from Bluehost is currently doing some troubeshooting on the site and I’ll need to wait until the plugins are all restored to their original state before I can do anything else.
Just checked the error logs, none relevant to this issue.
I can confirm this error still exists in V3.2.2. I’m getting an error page immediately upon activating the plugin for all wp-admin pages for the website for one of my clients.
The error page simply says “Not Available” I’ll have to either contact the host to get the plugin disabled from their end or delete the plugin via ftp to regain access to the WordPress admin panel. This plugin is mission critical for my client’s site that’s having this issue as SSL breaks the site’s external stylesheets otherwise.
EDIT: Deleting the plugin’s files does not fix this issue. I still can’t access wp-admin even after deleting really simple ssl via ftp.

In reply to: [Send Images to RSS] Images not being deliveredI ran a test in first Firefox, then in Chrome, the images work fine in Chrome but not in Firefox, so it looks like this may be a browser issue. Thanks for all your help in this stage of the troubleshooting! At least now we can rule out MailChimp, WordPress, or any of its themes or plugins as the culprit.

In reply to: [Send Images to RSS] Images not being deliveredTried that code and I still only get alt text. I did a check and the
html tags are correctly pointing to the image, I can view it by doing a right click -> view image and see the thumbnail that should be displayed in the emails, so from a pure html standpoint, I can see no reason why the images are not displaying. the mailchimp rss codes seem to be pulling the images correctly, but for some reason the image does not display in any browser.
Anyways, here’s the code I’m using:
*|FEEDBLOCK:https://www.theafronews.com/feed/|* *|FEEDITEMS:[$count=1, $constrain_rss_img=Y, $category=Events]|* *|FEEDITEM:TITLE|* *|FEEDITEM:IMAGE|* *|FEEDITEM:CONTENT|* *|END:FEEDITEMS|* *|END:FEEDBLOCK|* Test - Feeditem content *|RSSITEMS:https://www.theafronews.com/feed/|* *|RSSITEM:TITLE|* *|RSSITEM:CONTENT_FULL|* Read in browser ? *|END:RSSITEMS|*
The part after the “test” line is where I tested your code to see if that would work.
This Week's News: *|RSSITEMS:|* *|RSSITEM:TITLE|* *|RSSITEM:CONTENT|* Read on ? *|END:RSSITEMS|*
EDIT: In case a lack of media tags in causing this issue, do you know any good plugins that add those in? Searching neither Google nor the wordpress plugins in the add plugins tool were helpful, nothing remotely close to that was coming up in the results.
EDIT2: I did some more testing and what appears to be going on is the images exist on the server, and the html tags correctly point to the images, which are being feed in to both the RSS feed and mailchimp correctly up to a certain point, but when it comes time to load the images in the browser, this fails. Doing an Inspect element, I see the message “could not load image” when hovering over the “src” attrbute, so the alt text loads instead.
I use WordFence and was able to rule out any recent changes to the firewall as being the culprit as I temporarily disabled the firewall, ran the test in mailchimp again and got the same results.
EDIT3: I tried testing this feed using Aweber and got the same results, no images display, just alt text. So the feed’s images seem to be there, but something either within the server, browser or WordPress is preventing the images from displaying.
