found a really simple answer after about 4 hours of searching…

t’s pretty simple to add an image to your menu items.

In the label field, put an <img> tag such as this:

    <img src=”location/of/image.png” alt=”Link Title” />

You can use CSS to add images to your menu. Its the same as editing any OL list to have them.

How do I do that? Would i need to use dreamweaver (or similar) or can i do this by simply through the GUI of wordpress or my hosting site?

Thanks for the comments, and yes, I know that I need to make the images relevant and will still back this up with relevant text.

As the domain suggests, this is only a test site for me to learn how to use wordpress and to get the right design for phoenix so any input is really appreciated – the content (eg pics that are in the posts, the RSS feed, some of the menu items) is no where near where it will be on the real site. I have a widget that will embed a video into each post which will interpret the content (a massive task due to the amount of content that will be uploaded… eventually) and my vision is to make this site the pioneer in deaf websites as there is nothing else out there that works!

im thinking more feedback for the way the functionality stuff has been set up, and the layout of my widgets and the widgets used to help my achieve my vision and the charities mission statement.

erm, wouldn’t have a clue how to do that. maybe its a stupid idea to have it – after all, there is a massive blue button at the top to click! haha

any ideas how to get rid of that ‘vision and values’ page? i deleted it from the admin dashboard but it just won’t disappear from the menu…. grrrr!

    ??

Yep, so i’ve made a custom menu and want the home button (page) that i’ve made to take me back to the first page you see or otherwise once someone has used the site and looked around the pages, they cant easily get back to the first page (i say this as the people that will be using the site may not know that if you click on the logo at the top, it takes you there)

    Check out the site

any tips/hints regarding the site would be really appreciated!

    thanks

thanks a lot for your help… and on a slightly different note…

can i make a button/page that i can put into my menu that will let users return to the first page that you see when you go to the site?

    thanks!!

so using my existing theme, can i change the way the drop-downs menus disappear?
also, do you have any recommendations on which plugins are best for the items mentioned?

thanks for your help, im new to wordpress!

honestly, i have looked absolutely everywhere for the right theme and cannot find anything.

I’m willing to pay for the theme and have searched places like themeforest, but to no avail as it needs all the above features ??

WOW, ok. I have changed the version number and it still gives me the error message after attempting to log in, ‘You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.’.

    What next??

Thanks for the quick replies people, but as brilliant as your help is, its still a little over my knowledge of databases etc.

So i can look a my database by going through plesk and opening phpMyAdmin, after which I have no idea about finding the table to edit. i have clicked on every ‘browse’ button i could find but couldnt find anything that would resemble what you’re pointing me towards.

You edit the “wp_metadata” file inside the database that controls your WordPress installation. You have to use “browse” and find the tables USER_ID, wp_metauser, wp_capabilities… and select EDIT… Make sure you note the user # and edit the correct tables.

am i missing something, or should there be a browse butting that allows me to browse the whole thing?

thanks for your help with this!

I finally got the permissions for admin to work by changing the version number in my SQL table to “8204” (it was something like 15032) Make sure you know there is more than one page in the SQL editing and table area…mine had 8 pages and it was on the 2nd page). You have to have access and know how to edit your SQL database files… (scary, I know) and then go to your WordPress directory and “upgrade.php” -voila- Permissions restored. And the “USER” menu item appeared as well!

I’m an absolute newbie to wordpress but have managed to get this far…

any chance of a walk-through of the above part?
    thanks
