Thanks for the reply. I thought it was something minor. From your response, and the FAQ, this seems to be major.

I’ve read the guide, but I’m a little bit confused. I’m trying to understand the bigger picture. Is this malicious code something that I am supposed to find?

If I’m not mistaken, according to the guide, I am supposed to back up everything and then replace all the files in my current theme and also replace all the files in my current “hacked” wordpress installation?

How long should a process like this take? I might have to hire someone. This sounds like it’s beyond what I can do without mucking things up. ??

I reinstalled the plug in and it seems to work again.

I guess I went on an update frenzy and the old featured content plug in code didn’t work with the new version of wordpress or something like that. Or I updated the plug in and didn’t change the code to call the gallery. Or both. I don’t know.

It took some tinkering but if you find this post and are having the same problem, go to the https://www.featuredcontentgallery.com/ site and watch the video that the author put up. I had never seen this video before and the new version of the plug in works a bit differently.

A moderator at the Revolution forum sent me a link to my own admin panel that I thought I had tried before but for whatever reason, it worked this time. I don’t know how or why, but that link worked. I swear I thought I had tried the same address before.

I changed the address once it let me in and “voila!”, it worked!

    I don’t understand this stuff.

Thank you so much for your help.

I hate having to ask, but you folks always come through!

    Hip Hip Hooray for wordpress!

    I suck.

    Thank you for your reply.

I tried editing the myphpadmin like you said, and even found this: https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/ but I don’t have any option_value input box.

    I have:

    Field option_name
    Type VARCHAR
    Length/Values1 64
    Collation latin1_swedish_ci
    Attributes __________________
    Null not null
    Default2 __________________
    CURRENT_TIMESTAMP __________________
    Extra __________________
    Comments __________________

And I’m not sure exactly what my wp config should look like. I checked it but I don’t think I see any of the changes that I made previously.

    Any ideas?

I tried that but I don’t have any option_value input box.

    I have:

    Type VARCHAR

I’m thinking I won’t mess with anything else until I can get some help fixing it. I don’t wanna mess anything up further and make it harder to fix than it needs to be.

I would greatly appreciate your help.

My original post pertaining to this problem is at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/207420?replies=1 . If you could please offer some help here or there.

    Thanks.

BTW: Thanks for the response. I suck at this stuff and I guess I need help with silly things pretty often.

This forum makes me feel like I’ve always got people in my corner.

    My site is https://myfitnesswithchris.com.

N/m fixed it by manually typing /blog into the address bar; it took me to a plain looking page where I reentered the correct address into the line where it says (URL) wordpress address.

I really appreciate the input guys. The wordpress community is just wonderful and I’ve received so much help here in these forums from all of you.

I’ve since decided to do a complete overhaul and am spending a few dollars to make some much needed improvements. My plan is to use the Revolution Pro Business premium wordpress theme.

I’m experimenting with a few different logos and there’s another thread I posted regarding the logo that was pretty exciting.

    I love wordpress!

Thanks again to all of you!

“Too wide and WAY too long.”

I had that same feeling. It felt kinda all over the place but, I didn’t know if it was just my feeling because I was the one putting it all together.

“you have ads sticking out of the side bar and that looks pretty ugly.”

I’m guessing you mean the Perform Better, Workout Pass, and Sport Specific ads, and not the google ads, correct?

I guess it does need a major clean up. Thanks for confirming.

I think I’ll try and find a theme and keep the focus on the main part of the page, keep all the navigation at the top, and maybe a nice static home page with links or picture links to relevant sections.

    I’ll give it a try. Thanks…

    Thank you for your response.

“Google thinks that the content on all of them is so similar, it does not think any of them are all that important.”

I don’t really know how would I fix something like this. I would think that most blog posts from the same author talk about related/similar topics, like how mine does.

The articles are there for whoever comes across them. However, my main goal is to get people to my site when they search for my keywords.

Is the fact that my blog is my landing page bad for my ranking? I thought it was good…

The only option I could think of would be to continue to power my site with wordpress and move my blog somewhere in another directory or to a free wordpress.com blog and link to it?

I’m still working on incoming links. I’ve placed my link on various sites like citysearch, local, etc. Do those not help at all?

I would like to note that some other top ranked sites for my keywords have zero links and yet they place on the first page, ahead of me. Hence, I figured this was a contributor to my low ranking, but not the reason.

Once again, thank you for your response. I’ll try an SEO forum too.

Thank you so much for sharing.

The main thing I was trying to do was to get the extra feedburner page to go away after clicking the feed icon and have it go straight to the place the feed is headed to, but I guess it’s not possible with feedburner.

I downloaded and activated the plugin you suggested. Very helpful. Thank you.

    Thank you for your response.

I was really hoping someone would be able to share an answer here in these forums. I did a search and only found others with the same problem, but no explanation of how to fix mine. Perhaps this should have gone in the plugins and hacks forum.

    “Support:

If you have comments/problems/suggestions, see something in the code which is not compliant to the WordPress Plugin Codex, or just want to say “Yeha! It works!”, feel free to create a post at the WordPress support forum and tag it with “sitemap”. It’s likely that you’ll get an answer for your problem faster there than by writing me an email, because I get a lot of support emails and need some time to read and answer them all. If you think you’ve found a bug, please open a new ticket here.”

Am I always asking the wrong way or something?

Why do I only get responses to questions I ask 10-15% of the time?

I need to fix this and would really appreciate some help.

I would think this would be a popular plug in. Why is it not? I am asking for trouble by installing it?
