In reply to: New Plugin: Role ScoperI posted this question on the plugin page, but maybe I should have posted it here instead. Feel free to delete that comment if it should have been here.
What I am trying to do is restrict a group (or a user) to editing certain pages, but I also want to allow them to publish new pages, with the restriction that the parent page has to be one of the pages that they own. The writeup on the plugin implies that this is one of the problems that the plugin is supposed to solve. You say “Can you enable someone to create a new page, but specify a subset of “parent” pages it can be linked to?” But I can’t figure out how to do this.
Thanks for writing a very useful plugin!

In reply to: Authors can write to only a certain category?I would like to restrict groups of users to post and to read only certain categories. But the only plugins that I can find to do this seem to disable any restricted posts from appearing in category view, even when the a user with the correct role capability is logged in.
Any suggestions?

In reply to: add new RSS feed–post title onlyThanks, I tried that but I can’t seem to access the new feed. I tried <my blog>/wp-rss2-new.php (my new file), but all it displays in xml is the channel info w/o any items. Then I discoverd that wp-rss2.php does the same thing! I’m not sure how to access a specific feed directly (i.e. w/o using just <my blog>/feed/)
Any suggestions?

In reply to: Using Pages with Blogs and WP as CMSYou could define a custom page template for the page in which you want the blog posts to appear. Then in the page template you could use the Customizable Post Listings plugin to list the posts from the approriate category.
I’ve done something sort of like this for my church site. The home page lists recent posts from one category in the center section, and recent posts from the news category in the right sidebar. So the home page is a WP Page, but it also includes recent posts from two different categories.

In reply to: Plugin: Fuzzy recent postsYou said.. “there is a documented param to restrict the list to a single cat”
Can you please tell me where this is documented? I looked on the page on the plugin on your site, in the readme, and in the code.
Thanks!

In reply to: Controlling the ‘recent updates’ pageI want to do something similar. I am using WordPress as a CMS, and I want only some pages to appear in recent updates. Pages do not have categories, but they do have a hierarchical structure. I would like to have only certain pages (and their subpages) appear in the list.
Is there some sort of filter that can make this happen?
