I have the following PHP zip packages installed:

    ea-php70-php-zip.x86_64 7.0.25-1.1.3.cpanel
    ea-php70-php-bz2.x86_64 7.0.25-1.1.3.cpanel

Is PclZip include in there somewhere? I’m having a difficult time determining a version for PclZip specifically.

BTW, I’m getting the same results regardless which compression type I pick (zip, tar, etc.)

Do you have any documentation on PHP prerequisites for BackWPUp? I.e., something that lists all of the dependencies I must have installed and recommended minimums for memory limits, execution times, etc.?

    Thank you,

    Jeff

I verified that the same problem happens when I change PHP to:

    PHP version: 5.6.32 (64bit)

I did a spot check on other client sites that use same hosting service (a local reseller via LogicBoxes). BackWPUp was running OK on these sites at least as recently as last Friday, Nov 3. Today, I’m having this same “job started, but not responded” problem on *all* of my sites. I even tried doing a simple MySQL DB only backup on a very small site and the same thing happened. Occasionally, I can get a job to start, but then it gets stuck on some step (not always the same step).

I’m starting to suspect something changed recently on the provider side. Has anyone else experienced similar problems on sites hosted by LogicBoxes?

    Thank you,

    Jeff

Since I’m stuck on this step currently…

Compressing files as PclZip. Please be patient, this may take a moment.

…could it be a problem with the PclZip PHP library? Is it OK that I’m using this version of PHP on my VPS?

    PHP version: 7.0.25 (64bit)

Thanks again in advance for any further advice you can give.

Update: I’m still waiting on that job to finish… :-/

In the meantime, I verified the file and dir ownership on the server. All is as I expected it to be:

    * everything under WP dir is owned by my admin user acct
    * Apache runs user acct which is member of same group with permissions to WP dirs
    * All files are set to 664
    * All dirs are set to 775

This my usual practice when I set up VPS for clients.

Nothing out of the ordinary here. I’m really scratching my head on this one.

Continuing to troubleshoot, changing one thing at a time and seeing it it makes any difference…

OK, so I changed the php.ini max execution time to 25 seconds as well (in addition to the aforementioned change to BackWPup Pro ? Settings). Now I am back to executing, but waiting a very long time for it to complete:

As of right now, it is 16:24 and I’m still waiting at the same point. I’m being very patient. ??

This is a step in the right direction, but I don’t think the issue is completely resolved yet.

Setting the max execution time to 25 seconds didn’t change the final result.

I already had XML Export unchecked.

I there any way to get some verbose logging turned on? The regular execution log doesn’t seemed to be updated in this situation.

    Thank you,

Also, if you look again at the time stamps in the first log, you will see that it had stalled out for nearly 20 minutes, which was very unusual for this site. Usually, the entire backup takes less than 20 minutes. That is why I aborted it. I included it in the post only to give a full picture of what precipitated the current “job has not responded for 10 seconds” situation.

    Thanks again,

    Andreas,

Thank you for your response. You really have produced a great backup tool. ??

If you take a look again at my original post, you will see that I did copy/paste the from the information/debug page as well. Server self connect still shows as follows:

Server self connect: Response Test O.K.

    All the best,

I thought I might have a file/directory permission problem – ie, BackWpUp times out trying access a file targeted for backup. Can anyone point me to some guidance on this topic? I’d rather not chmod 777. ??

    (@realgeekdad)

Yeah, I read that article before posting, but I didn’t see anything that helped me since I wasn’t getting an error for “server self connect”.

Thank you for for taking a look. =8^>

That fixed it. Thanks! Great support. ??
