When I added that code it moved the underline down by 5px but not the content

i dont know about that site but you can try the RSS Digest plugin or rssinclude.com

You can either do it from the plugins page by de-activating and then deleting it

or

you can delete the askimet folder from the plugins directory on your server via FTP

The links now underline but is it possible to make the whole cell the link?

So even if i put the mouse to the far right hand side of the menu, not on the text, it will still be a clickable link?
