    Thanks for answering!
I really appreciate your help. Unfortunately I can’t use the code as it is because I actually need three columns. I am just beginning to get a handle on CSS, I know nothing about PHP. So, I don’t know how to alter the code to suit my need. Could you please send me a revised segment? I also don’t know where to insert the code. I’m just your average inexperienced wannabe programmer. :=) Thanks again!

I’ve been running 3.9.1 from day one and never had a problem until shortly after I updated Jetpack and I installed the Suffusion theme. With what has happened to you and the Jetpack error I received I’m pretty convinced it is the Jetpack. But that doesn’t explain your brand new install with no plugins. Is it a restored backup or a fresh new install?

Anyway best of luck again. Actually, that didn’t work out so well last time so “Break a leg!”

    eppingstrider,

It Definitely sounds like the same problem. I also had trouble with the Jetpack update.

My host’s tech said that my Jetback Plugin was causing an error on my error log. Then he proceeded to really mess things up and deleted all my plugin files! His encore was to restor an old version of my plugins and in the process produce a “Failure to connect to the database” error! At that point he realized he was in over his head and escalated it to a higher power. I was able to get on later but the damage was done! Most of my images are now gone and I am faced with re-installing WordPress and losing over 200 hours of work! I am with iPage and they are usually very good, but every crew has its lugnut. I hope you don’t get the same goofball working on your issue.

I believe we started out with the same issue, but I’ve moved on to bigger badder things! But I wonder if it all started with a bad Jetpack update issue.

By the way, my daughter is an author, Natalie D. Richards. She has one book published and doing well with another three under contract. She loves it, but says the business is brutal!

    Best of luck!

    Quin,
    Thanks for the advice!

I am concerned about losing my main multi-site and my six sub-sites and all their content, images & other data. It represents hundreds of hours of work. I have a backup but,
    A) I don’t know for certain if it is good.
    B) It is from yesterday morning and it probably has the problem that I am trying to overcome built into it.

I also have a backup done by my website host. I don’t know how old it is but it may not have this problem and I would lose a lot less stuff. I still have to talk to them to make sure it is a full backup. I know it contains the plugins but I’m not sure it is complete.

What about the “Re-install Now” button on the Updates > Available Updates page? Do you know how destructive it is?

    Hi,
Color me desperate! In addition to what I have done in the post above
I have now deactivated all of my plugins, increased the RAM allotment on my server from 32mb to 128mb, verified there is no upper limit to my hard disk space, verified that the problem does not extend to my other sub-sites, verified that there is no similar problems with other WordPress users on my web host’s servers and changed themes several times. I’ve done many other, less significant things as well. I am considering backing my entire site up and re-installing WordPress, but would like to know if there are any less desperate (threr’s that word again) measures I can take first. Somebody please respond, I’m really desperate!

I did that, twice! Once with the original sub-directory name and once with an entirely different name.

I have had a problems that predated the insertion of the code that you suggested, but for reasons that totally escape me I was able to fix that problem by removing your code. I don’t understand the connection especially given that those problems already existed. The bottom line is that the other problem took precedence over my desire for a thinner menu, so the code had to go. But thanks, I do appreciate your suggestion!

I can’t understand why, but I removed a line of code in the custom.css that had been inserted long after the two column fiasco started and it fixed the issue. I wish I understood it, but it is fixed and that was the goal. Thanks for responding!

I have tried deactivating all the plugins with no change. I am getting ready to delete and re-install the Artificer theme. Before I deactivate and re-install the Artificer theme I want to know if my products will be deleted.

Thanks! I can definitely use this code reference, but I actually want to increase the font size while making the bar smaller. I don’t know if that is possible, but that is what I really want! ?? I just hope someone knows how!

I actually caught it myself and marked the post resolved, so I didn’t expect any response. But I do appreciate you giving it a look-see!

I am experiencing the same thing. I am somewhat confused about the fact that at no point does the installation process ask for either the tracking ID or the tracking code. Is this taken care of when the pop-up gives me an authorization code? If this is all automated how can I be sure every page has the code installed?

    Hi,
I just got a post from the Aspen theme forum that solved my problem. It turns out that they call the breadcrumbs area the information bar. They have a simple checkbox that removes it and allows the post box to move to the top where I wanted it. But Thanks again for the responses!

    (@reburton3941)

Thank you for responding, I really appreciate it! Unfortunately the code did not move the thing. I tried a number of variations but nothing budged it. In case I was not clear, what I wanted to move is the box that the post is contained in. I am pretty anal-retentive about details and I would like to get it aligned with the top of the sidebar widgets.
