In reply to: [Dinky] Text on top of image is now belowYes, the header image. Today the text has moved up a bit and is halfway on the image and halfway off… and overlapping the text box below. I tried copying and pasting the code you sent, but it doesn’t seem to have changed anything. Why would the text move after a few days? How do I fix it? It looks awful right now…

In reply to: [Dinky] Text on top of image is now belowNo, it is not solved. The text is still below the image and it is supposed to be layered on top of the image. That was the way it was previewed and the way it worked for a while on my page. Is there any way to get a copy of the original header code so I can replace the code with the errors with the correct version? I really liked the way it looked with the texted layered on top of the image, but I can’t figure out how to get it back that way…

In reply to: [Dinky] Text on top of image is now belowTo be completely honest, I have no idea. I am brand new at this and I am sure I screwed up somewhere along the way. How do I fix all the errors?

In reply to: Text on top of Image is goneIt didn’t work means I followed every instruction, deleted the cache and the text is still below the picture. I completely uninstalled the theme and then reinstalled, still nothing. The page didn’t change at all. I will post in the dedicated forum.

In reply to: Text on top of Image is goneI contacted hostgator and found the FTP thing. I have added the child folder as per instructions above, but now it is asking for a stylesheet. I can’t figure out how to put that in now.
I have also tried totally uninstalling the Dinky theme and then reinstalling it and it is the same problem. Is there anyway to just start over with this theme?
And no, this isn’t a bump… it is a continuation of the comment above. I tried to edit it and it took me somewhere else.

In reply to: Text on top of Image is goneOK, so I clicked on the link that explains how to create a child theme. It says to “Create a directory in your themes directory to hold the child theme. The themes directory is wp-content/themes. You should name the directory without any space as part of the name, and it is common practice to use the name of the parent theme folder with “-child” appended to it. So, for instance, if you are making a child of the twentythirteen theme, your folder name would be twentythirteen-child.”
I am stuck on step #1 – “the themes directory is wp-content/themes.” Where is this? I have absolutely no idea where the themes directory is to begin with.
And I don’t mean to bump – I didn’t realize I was doing that. And I would happily hire somebody to do this for me if I had a clue of where to find such a person. Not a website that will make me sit on hold for hours or require only live chat. And no, it isn’t that urgent, it is just enormously frustrating.

In reply to: Text on top of Image is goneso you are saying I add the wp-content/themes/dinky to my url, correct? I just don’t understand how I am getting to this particular page you are referring to. Or maybe could you tell me how I access it by going to what tab – like appearance -> editor, etc? I apologize for how new I am to this… the simplest things seem so enormously difficult!
[No bumping. If it’s that urgent, consider hiring someone.]

In reply to: Text on top of Image is goneOk, that kind of makes sense, but I can’t find the theme directory as it is described in the child theme directions. I tried the wp-theme thing, but it just shows a blank page… thoughts?
